How does this product compare to Apagard brand?

I am already able to give you an answer! This is *FAR* better than Apagard. After just one use, I went from loving Apagard Premio to actually hating it. With this Pearlie White toothpaste, it truly is just as gentle and as harmless as they say while still being extremely effective and powerful. Apagard Premio's main failing points for me is that it has Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) and Glycerin. I realize it's full of 'bad' ingredients, but these are the ones I know for sure bother me. I've been using Apagard Premio for about a full year, and to be honest, I have always been bothered by these two ingredients. I don't have any severe reactions to SLS, but I do have some minor issues with it: 1. I get minor gum recession on 1 or 2 teeth, and it's sometimes not always the same teeth. While this isn't an issue while eating or drinking anything, it does cause painful sensitivity when my brush comes in direct contact with the exposed roots of those teeth. 2. The gases released when the toothpaste begins to foam up causes a bit of a stinging or burning sensation in my eyes. 3. If any toothpaste is on my lips the entire time I'm brushing, it results in a mild burning or tingling for quite a while after I rinse it off 4. I can't enjoy hot & spicy foods as much because the heat is much too intense somehow. I guess the SLS actually injures the skin in my mouth and on my tongue. I don't know. This is a big problem for me because I *LOVE* to eat certain foods that have some heat to them. The 5th point is, Glycerin definitely coats everything it touches for at least a couple of days and it most definitely can't be rinsed off. I have seen many customers on here warning other customers to avoid Glycerin because it coats everything in your mouth and it cannot be rinsed. I always knew this to be true based on my experience with Apagard's toothpaste, but I also haven't experienced a toothpaste without Glycerin before so I didn't know how much *better* it is to use a toothpaste that doesn't have Glycerin in it. First, rinsing after using the Pearlie White was a snap. I use a 14oz drinking glass and I always fill it to the rim with almost-hot water, and one full glass was never enough with Apagard Premio. I would use two full glasses, and even that was never enough, but I would lose my patience with rinsing after finishing the 2nd glassful. It felt like I could rinse 100 times in a row each with a full 14oz of almost-hot water and still not be any more rinsed than when I started. With Pearlie White, my mouth felt perfectly rinsed after only 4 to 6 ounces (it felt completely rinsed before I used half of the full 14oz)! Another pleasure with Pearlie White is the way my mouth feels after using it compared to the way it feels after using the Apagard toothpaste - thanks to not having Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. It feels absolutely and completely unharmed. I mean, after using this Pearlie White toothpaste, my mouth feels perfectly calm and happy (for lack of a better way to describe it). It feels the same way as it would if I had used plain water! I love it! With Apagard Premio, I only brushed right before going to sleep so that I could still enjoy my hot & spicy food if I wanted to because by the middle of the next day or by dinner time, my mouth was 100% recovered from the harm caused by the SLS. With Pearlie White, I am finally free. I can finally brush 3 times per day or more if I wanted to. This stuff is truly harmless and gentle. I wish I had tried this toothpaste sooner! So yeah, I now see Apagard Premio as a tube full of toxic chemicals. There's no way I'll ever go back to it. From now on, this Pearlie White toothpaste is the only toothpaste I am wiling to use.

what form is the hydroxyapatite in and how concentrated is it?

I bought this at least a yr ago but after digging around I found the cardboard packaging! It does not state what form it is in nor does it show a compound diagram. It is the 4th ingredient listed. isn't xylitol sugar? so i'm brushing my teeth with something that has sugar in it? i'm just confused is all.

Not a caloric sweetner, but it is sweet. As other have said it will kill bacteria, so it does the opposite that normal sugar does to your teeth. You may ask if it's so awesome then why not use it in food ... you can, and food makers have tried, but in higher quantities than this has it causes diarrhea (Haribo gummy bears did that and it was a disaster). But not in the low quantities used in toothpaste and in gum.

The FDA monograph on oral antiseptic drug products reviewed the data regarding CPC and concluded the following: 0.025 to 0.1 percent cetylpyridinium chloride is safe as an OTC oral antiseptic when labeled for short-term use (not to exceed 7 days)
