Seal the top; it rusts
Started using this last week with some basic air dry clay, and was really confused to find the white clay was turning orange/brown on the bottom until I saw the rust that was growing in the circle indents of the wheel. The wheel is painted silver, but doesn't seem to be sealed to protect against moisture. To protect the integrity of sculpts and paints, the top needs to be sealed before using.

Heavy Duty & Spins Easily
Smooth spin. Very heavy duty. Works great so far. I am using it for paint pouring so I cover it when I am using it.

Excellent weight and spins smoothly
It is super solid, spins very very smoothly and is just the perfect size for underglazing, glazing, carving, and trimming most sizes of pottery pieces. We have about 10 of these at the studio where I take pottery classes and I use them there so I got one for my home art studio as well. I use it not only for pottery but for sculpting and other mediums.

Purchased for my daughter who has gotten into clay sculpting but does many smaller size sculptures, this is her review:Contrary to a lot of other reviews- it is not heavy, spins very well and doesn’t separate from base. Perfect size for small sculpting.
