TRUE METRIX AIR Blood Glucose Monitoring Meter, Black

I was recently diagnosed as having type 2 diabetes and needed to get a blood glucose monitor. This product is accurate and links to an app which tells you when you are over or under your set target range.

Only 4 stars because you dont get any test strips with it.

Blood sugar readings can seem quite inconsistent so the manual advises you to use control solution once a month to calibrate and when you use the machine for the first time…..but the machine doesn’t come with any…..and I can only seem to source it in the US so it’s about £35….

My health authority invited me to change my Glucose meter. I had previously been using the Gluco/Rx Nexus meter, which, to be honest I was perfectly happy with. However, they persuaded me to to try the True Metrix Air, which had the additional benefit of Bluetooth and the ability to keep your readings on a phone app. However, I've found the test strips for this meter, which are much smaller than the Rx types, very fiddly to use indeed, and also a small percentage from each box are always dead, so quality control not as good as Gluco/Rx IMHO. The app worked well until one day my meter locked up whilst connecting to my phone and only the battery being removed would reset it, but then all the stored readings were lost. About a week later the meter has failed all together and now I'm awaiting a replacement. I much preferred my old Gluco/Rx system and asked my GP to go back, but it appears the NHS has done a deal with Trividia and I'm told In can't. I also really miss the lit LCD screen, so you cant use the True Metrix meter at night without a light. Not that impressed so far. If you have as choice with your NHA authority, go for the Nexus/Rx.

Bought this machine at the airport in emergency. Came with 10 lancets and 10 test strips. No lancets available where I purchased glucometer, but bought packet of 50 strips.Used the lancets in the box within 2.5 days, so used my own meter's pricker and lancets to obtain blood to use with this glucometer's strips.Altho may seem like faffing about, it worked well and i was able to obtain the relevant readings during my 15 day holiday before going back to my original machine.

The True Manager Air app for Android is not compatible with the latest version of Android (14), so cannot be downloaded from the play store.
