Great quality, the right one to use for electric cars
Works great. The home depot outlet I am replacing failed just over a year after installation. This unit is built so much better and worth the cost.

This is the plug that you need for your EV charging outlet.
If you are wiring up a NEMA 14-50R to charge your EV, this is the plug that you need. Don't buy one of the cheap ones at one of the big box stores, they are not rated for the constant load that an EV will put on them. You need an industrial rated plug like this one. This plug is much better insulated and heavy duty than the cheap ones. I have tested mine and it barely gets warm to the touch when charging the Mach-E. Just make sure you have a big enough box, this plug goes deep into the wall box. Be sure to tighten the terminals to 75 inch-pounds as stated in the instructions. Also don't go over 40A with this, the NEC states to use no more than 80% constant load of a breaker's amperage rating. If you want to get a higher amperage charger than 40A, you need to go hardwired. If you have any doubt hire an electrician.

Highly recommend this for EV Chargers!
Great for EV charging. Much better build quality and can support the heavier loads!

High quality receptacle with full mating surface
I've had a Leviton 14-50R installed for several years to charge my EV. I've been concerned lately that the plug from the EVSE seemed to be getting warm after 2-3 hours of charging. That's not right, and having searched around I realized that the Hubbell were highly recommended. The old outlet had only mating surface for half of the plug prong, clearly increasing the resistance and generating heat. Fortunately, I don't charge at home all that often, so no meltdown, but this replacement doesn't get warm at all.If you're using a non-hardwired EVSE and pulling lots of amps, this is very much recommended. The peace of mind is worth the cost.

Perfect for charging F150 Lightning
Installed this in my garage to charge my F150 lightning. Costs more than the cheap ones, but is supposed to be less likely to melt when warm. No issues with this one.

Great quality
Thanks to some youtube videos, I became aware of heat control problems when charging an EV with the "standard" 50A outlets sold at home improvement stores. I purchased this to upgrade my outlet, thus avoiding melted parts or burning my house down. Very high quality piece, with obviously superior features. Especially the terminal clamps. Use an inch-pound torque wrench and read the instructions for a trouble-free install.
