New England Arbors Freemont 12' x 12' Attached Vinyl Pergola

I bought this arbor to capture the Wisteria growing next to my pool fence; it can climb the arbor - not the fence. My multiple packages arrived complete, all parts packed perfectly, and nothing missing. I employed my Carpenter and he and his partner did the job in a day-and-a-half. They did have to make a modification to the post height to accommodate the header clearance to account for my deck step height (about 2.5 feet), but their Yankee ingenuity had no problem making the adjustment (longer posts, and longer sleeves from a local fence company). Lots of screws provided, though they would have preferred other-than Philips head (Torx would have been better). The kit went together very well and the final result is impressive. I was able to immediately see how much light was diffused as shown in my video. I'm very pleased with the product and also very happy that I hired a professional and didn't attempt to do this on my own. There were things done to add to the stability, strength, and appearance. Nice!! We're already getting positive feedback from passers-by.

I don't usually leave reviews for stuff but since this was a big project and we read a lot of reviews before buying it, I thought I'd leave my thoughts too. The kit is very well organized and laid out. All the pieces seemed very sturdy and the instructions were easy to follow. You can find installation videos on their website. Someone on here said it didn't come with the shade kit, so we bought one to add, but it did end up coming with one so we had to return it. You do have to buy the wood to put into the vinyl covers, another reviewer mentioned that their's sagged but clearly they didn't use the required wood. It is not an easy job to assemble, mostly because of the height and the weight of the board. My husband, our 14 year old and I did it and it took a couple days. We are really happy with how it turned out and highly recommend it because of the price and the quality. Don't expect to be able to throw it up in an afternoon though.

I have to give this a 4/5. It is stable in the z and y axis, moderately unstable in x but it’s not going to blow over even in a bad storm. They use 4x4 posts. Maybe 6x6 or triangular bracing would be better. Not sure. The instructions have issues - pg 10 calls for 1.5in\64mm screws. 64mm is 2.5in. I called New England Arbors’ support line and they verified 1.5. Unfortunately this was wrong, as we were short 1.5 in screws. Customer support at least was quick to get ahold of. Pg13, it’s easy to damage the top of the pergola. The outermost rafters fit tight. In hindsight I would have shot the wood through first from the front and then slid on the vinyl sheathing and joiner after. I had professional installers, and the instructions as laid out have you put the joiner on first. Fitting the beam in then requires flexing the frame. They ended up damaging it slightly. Nothing a vinyl repair kit can’t fix. Pg15 - careful your shade slats don’t overlay the joiner The brackets are a bit thin, in the non load bearing directions. The top isn't supposed to be weight bearing, so it should be fine. Don't hang a swing off this. It looks fantastic, it assembles easy, and should last for years. There are too many minor issues to give this a 5. Yes, you are building a rough cut pergola out of wood and putting these predrilled components over it. The kit saves a lot of time and protects the underlying wood, and gives it a professional look. It requires a building permit. The town approved the plan. I hope the inspection goes ok. The manufacturer reached out to me to ask if I had any questions regarding the pergola and to let me know they would offer support if needed. We were able to modify the size of the pergola to meet the size of our deck. The pergola is wonderful and looks amazing would highly recommend.

This is a quality product. Detailed instructions and fast response from Vita support team. I had an issue with one part. After contacting online customer support, a new part was sent out immediatly.

Great product, lousy customer service

Great, easy to follow instructions. I was able to fully assemble this pergola in one weekend. As a side note, the instructions state you’ll need vinyl adhesive. I found there were several tubes of vinyl adhesive that came with the - more than enough for the entire project.

We had two carpenters install this in front of our house. Took them 2 days! Remember to use wood inside so it doesn't sag. Another reviewer didn't follow instructions correctly and just set it up as is, it's plastic and will sag if you don't install it with wood. We didn't want to go with the wooden ones because of the maintenance of sanding and painting after so many years. This is a beautiful arbor that requires no maintenance. I was worried about it not being wood but now that it's installed I have no regrets. It's so beautiful. Neighbors have been coming left and right telling us how gorgeous it looks! One neighbor even said she has front yard envy :) It totally transformed the look of our house! So beautiful and it's big too. Love!
