Folate, not Folic Acid, is the naturally occurring form of B9. Its name is derived from the Latin word “folium,” which means leaf. In fact, leafy vegetables are among the best dietary sources of folate. Folate is a generic name for a group of related compounds with similar nutritional properties. The active form of vitamin B9 is a folate known as levomefolic acid or 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF). In your digestive system, most dietary folate is converted into 5-MTHF before entering your bloodstream. Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form of vitamin B12 found only in supplements, while methylcobalamin is a naturally occurring form that you can get through either food sources or supplements.

Q: what is the differnce between the B-12 loxenge and the B-12 methyl ?

The lozenge is the delivery method. Regular capsules you would swallow, but a lozenge is a flavored pill that you hold under your tongue or in your cheek (or just suck on it I suppose), to release the vitamin directly into your bloodstream bypassing your digestive acids which can otherwise hinder the potency of some vitamins such as b12, which is why people often will talk about b12 injections, but lozenges seem to work just about as well. B12 in capsule form isn't nearly as effective as injection or lozenges based one studies I've seen. This is a good product

I was prescribed metanx 3mg. (B*9 >3mg. B*6 >35mg. B*12>3mg.) I have Neuropathy & this is suppose to help. The prescription 3mo. Supply cost$174 $58.00 per month is this equal to prescription?

Product contains 400mcg methyl folate. The DFE (dietary folate equivalent) is 680mcg. Taking 400mcg methyl folate is equivalent to taking 680mcg regular folic acid.
