Very Nice. Performs well.
05/13/2023: Received and started using about three weeks ago. Very please so far. Can be used to add some moisture to very dry air-conditioned air, as well as using the A/C less overall. Easy to understand and to operate. A couple of points to consider: 1. I ain't too bright, and initially tried to insert the water tank backwards. It should go in fairly easily, so if you find yourself applying any force, take a look to see you got it right-way-forward. 2. I find it a lot easier just to ease the tank out an inch or two and add water via a pitcher. I have a cheapo 2-qt plastic "beer pitcher" that I picked up at a 99ct store that works perfect for this. If run until the machine turns off due to low water, it takes almost exactly two pitcher-fulls to refill to max. 3. The controls on the top of the machine can be hit by accident. They're also not highly visible in dim light. I assume that's because they look a lot nicer like that. And since every control is duplicated on the remote, you probably won't use them much. (To be clear, they're painted on, perfectly smooth. You cannot feel them at all.) 4. That said, I do use the On/Off button pretty regularly, because you need to turn it off in order to fill the tank. And I usually don't think of it until I'm actually at the machine and the remote's across the room. 5. Two additional features I'd love to see: A. A light under the water tank so I can see when it's getting low from across the room. B. A warning beeper if you start to pull the tank while it's on. I've almost done this a dozen times so far. I think the best place would be to put it on the "wing nut" thing that you have to open to remove the tank. That way it would beep BEFORE I pulled the tank. The humidifier is now out of a job! Note, I have not yet cleaned the pads, so can't comment on that yet, but it seems simple enough. If I find any issues, I'll add to this review later. The rollers are adequate to roll on shag carpeting, but barely so. The water is replaced from behind, so depending on your layout, that may not be possible without rolling. For many, I suppose a front-loader would be preferable. Come to think of it, that would be slightly easier for me too. Might not look as nice though. And I do like the look of it. I got the black & silver model. It's my intention to add the remote codes to my WiFi IR Remote box so that I can control this device via Alexa, as I do several other devices. This device is not WiFi-enabled. I've done this with several other devices (Fans, TVs, HDMI Switches, etc. and it's not that hard. I'd tell you the device I use, but I've had reviews deleted for naming brand names before. Suffice it to say it's a little white box I got on Amazon, and it works really well too. :-) You can even set up multi-press routines which Alexa can activate by the name I give them. Anyway, if I run into any issues there, I'll try to remember to add a note. (Low priority, will be a couple months.)

Expensive Fan
Not work as expected in my zone at north CA where the humidity is 40-50% and my room temperature is 88F during heatwave. With the evaporation fan the temperature is only 2F less than 88F. So it is just an expensive fan and the design of air flow is a failure. The bladeless fan is a joke because it doesn't completely move air from the back where the water flows through honeycomb structure that supposedly can cool down airflow, but it also sucks air from front left side because the bladeless fan is just a big rotating cylinder. Comparing to my another smaller desktop evaporation fan, it has a fan that blows the honeycomb structure in the front and so that I can feel the air is cooler. It's a waste of the large honeycomb structure and water flow, but the air movement doesn't make evaporation fully work to cool

Very effective and versatile evaporative cooler.
I run an evap cooler on my house until about July 4 (I live in Phoenix :|) then I run the expensive AC. I wanted something to keep me cool wherever I was working or relaxing in the house while running the AC. This does the job! Since the AC dries out the air, adding some moisture with the Frigidaire portable evap cooler is perfect. Even on the fan high setting the sound is not disturbing when placed a few feet from me. The cooling pad is large (5" x 18") and provides adequate water flow for cooling. The tower rolls very nicely over wood and cement floors, but not rugs (and I assume carpets, but I don't have any:)) I really like the dual air diverters: one cycles back and forth, the other up and down; both independently. With either the top panel buttons or the remote I can stop the diverters at any point to get a constant air flow in my direction. And the timer is nice if I put the Frigidaire portable evap in my bedroom at night. The first night I did not use the timer and I had to get up in the middle of the night to turn it off - too cold. It comes with two gel packs to freeze. I keep on in the freezer and the other in the reservoir. Then when I need to fill the reservoir I just swap the gel packs. Very nice evap cooler for small or close areas.

It works, but...
It works, but if I'd had a chance to try one first, I doubt I'd have spent that kind of money to buy one. It was the our record-breaking heatwave that convinced me to give it a try. It's more attractive than a box fan, but not as good at blowing air, and is more eco-friendly than and A/C unit, but won't cool your room. It'll make it more humid, but to actually get any cooling relief, you need to sit in a chair that's within 8ft of the unit and have it pointed directly at you. Similarly, you can move it close to your bed if you want a cool nights sleep, but again - don't expect it to cool the entire room. Also, the vertical oscillation works pretty good, but horizontally it's not very effective, as the unit is stationary and just has these long, skinny internal "fins" that rotate from side-to-side and don't really accomplish much. Given the vertical shape of the device, they really need to engineer it to swivel for better effect.

They work better than expected (pnw)
These work surprisingly well for our bedrooms. They last about 9 hours with a gallon and a half of water and the ice packs do help. We bought extra packs and put in two at a time. It's kept all our bedrooms at about 74 degrees when it's in the mid 90s outside. You do need to leave a window cracked so it doesn't feel muggy but that's minor. Also again, check to make sure you are in an area that an evaporative cooler works. It's 95° outside but only 42% humidity.

Good Little Air Cooler
Not amazing, but descent value if your landlord won't let you have an air conditioner. The up and down plus side to side air flow is good. Really an air cooler for one person only and you need it pointing at you. But descent.
