Who needs another cookie book? You do!
I was beginning to get a bit jaded about the value of ANOTHER cookie book, but for some reason I fell for this one and I am glad I did. The first cookie I made was "Everybody Ryes" , mostly because it looked easy. And it was easy. So much so that I began to wonder if anything that was this easy would really be that good. No need to fear. This cookie is to die for melt in your mouth delicious. Just a little bite. Not a big hearty thing, but absolutely wonderful. It's going on my list for Christmas Cookies for sure. The second cookie I made was the "Portland Pie Squares." Except I used rhubarb that I had cooked down instead of cherries. I live in the Midwest. 'Nuff said. They came out great. A similar recipe I had tried previously tasted great but went from bars to granola really quickly. This recipe stayed together and was just the right mix of moist and crunch. Suffice to say, the next time I feel like baking cookies, this book is where I'm going to start. Also, it has great "things my mother never told me" about all sorts of things cookie - from how to proportion bar cookies to the color, number, and volume of different cookie scoops and more. So glad I bought it.

Not at all what I wanted
I ordered this hoping for some really good recipes for my cookie making. Boy, was I disappointed! I gues I shoudl have guessed by the title, that the tried and true cookies would be nowhere to be found and the ones in here were very odd flavors and ones that I have no interest in trying. Some of them had more savory or odd flavors using BBQ sauces and other spices that don't interest me at all in my cookie making. It does have some good tips in it for those who are new or not seasoned cookie makers, but there was no new information for me there. Truly, I only found one recipe that I wouldn't mind trying, but even then it is doubtful that I will.I don't cook using alcohol, or several other ingredients, that are included in this book. For people are looking for recipes for a different palette, perhaps you will like this. It was a great disappointment to me and I actually returned it because I knew it was a total waste for me.

Entertaining cookbook with fantastic recipes
I'm generally a very simple baker who makes the same classic recipes using the least amount of dishes possible, so I waited to write this review until after I attempted my first recipe for Raspberry Lemonades. This book was the perfect boost to get me to try some new techniques and flavor combos when I had extra time to splurge on baking, and I was rewarded with amazingly soft but slightly crunchy cookies with a classic but complex taste. I never boiled a lemon before but it was totally worth the time investment and having to wash my food processor!I also really enjoy just reading this book. I love the conversational tone and personal notes from the authors, along with the scientific explanations for ingredient purposes and uses (both in the intro chapters and included in the recipe steps). This is a great book for anyone looking to add a little more adventure to their cookie baking.

Great book
I love how they write in this cookbook, and the tips are most helpful; but best of all, they offered recipes in metric weights!! 😃 🙌🏽Once you get into baking, I encourage you to buy a kitchen scale, it’s so much easier to reliably replicate a recipe.I love seeing authors and publishers deciding to add accurate metric measurements alongside the imperial cup measurements. The book is great, the recipes I’ve tried have worked out, and I recommend this to anyone looking for a wonderful cookie book. 🍪

So many interesting recipes that I can't wait to try!
I am an avid cookbook collector, I have hundreds of cookbooks in my collection. When I find a cookbook with one recipe that I can't wait to try, it's great. This cookbook has several! The Fudgy Cloud Brownies (lightened with meringue), Grahammies (a cross between a blondie and a graham cracker made with golden syrup), Blush and Bashfuls (strawberry rhubarb black & white cookies), and Birthday Cake Rugelach to name a few. It's also quite nice that the book includes storage and shelf life in each recipe, many of these cookies I'll be able to send in the mail.I've never heard of this author before and seem to have come across a hidden gem.

A creative and innovative approach to cookie baking
I purchased this book right away, after having enjoyed their pie cookbook. I have made several recipes so far and really enjoyed them. Like other reviewers said, these are not run-of-the-mill recipes and some require uncommon ingredients or somewhat advanced techniques (e.g. browning butter). The authors walk you through step by step and even point out where newbies might have difficulty. The results have been impeccable and get five-star review from my ravenous teens! I can't wait to see what these two do next!

Bakers dream cookie book
This book is amazing! The perfect mix of inspiration and precise directions. The ingredient lists are so easy to read as you measure. The beautiful photos have me saying “wow I have to make that”. The information and techniques they share will help you make your family favorite recipes better too. The recipes are creative and some are twists on a traditional cookie. If you don’t have their pie book “the new pie”, order that for yourself too.

Easy to follow recipes & new fresh flavors
I can tell already that I will be baking many recipes from this cookbook. The first one I tried has NW flavors and being from Portland I had to try the Portland Pie Bars. They were met with rave reviews when I took them to a gathering. I love how the recipes are divided into categories making it easy to head straight to my current craving.
