Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Limited Edition Guide

Holy crap this guide is bad.
The guide to Human Revolution from a different company was SO VERY WELL WRITTEN OUT. Tons of info, maps, keys, etc to show every item, achievement, path, enemy, and mission objective.Words cannot describe how terrible this guide is. There is no order. I feel like I'm going crazy trying to figure everything out. As a completionist, the whole reason I buy guides is so I can find everything and do everything. For example, early on a "side note" mentions that there is a side mission at this point in the game called "The Calibrator" I spent 20 minutes searching the guide for the mission, any details on it, or where to even get the mission with no luck. This is honestly pathetic. Do not waste your money.

Save your money, no value here
I'm a completionist and usually buy guides for certain types of games rather than scrape all over the internet. I've had solid guides from Prima before, but this one is basically useless. It's poorly laid out and missing significant content for those hunting trophies. Even simple things like in the first mission where a callout box for needing to complete the tutorials to obtain a trophy aren't done and/or aren't done effectively. It's also missing (to the best of my ability to decipher) a useful set of references to where the eBooks and other pick ups are on each map. (The maps themselvse are also only minimally useful.)The Human Revolution guide by a competitor was MUCH better constructed and did a better job of walking you through difficult stealth sections if you were going for Pacifist / Foxiest of Hounds than anything I've seen so far in this guide.PowerPyx has a good walkthrough available online with some videos for trophy hunters and I would recommend checking that out for free rather than wasting your money here. The book has some good art... but that's about it. Going to be much more leery about buying Prima guides in the future versus Brady or others.

Helpful
I came to gaming in my 60's so am a late bloomer and definitely not an intuitive player. Guidebooks are a must for me to get maximum enjoyment out of the game. Not having played the original Deus Ex, starting the 'Mankind Divided' was challenging. This book is well illustrated on heavy paper, and as a hardbound book is well put together and has almost 300 pages. It does have maps of the various quests/missions. Would've enjoyed a bit more detail, but this is still very useful for me. If you have already played the earlier games, then there may be little benefit for you to this book.I bought this book used from McPhrey Media. It was described as a first edition in 'very good' condition but I'm pretty sure it was brand new. Do yourself a favour and save a few $$ by choosing a used version to play with.

I'll keep this review short and sweet. This guide is pretty much useless
I'll keep this review short and sweet. This guide is pretty much useless. No maps showing where to find loot. Hell, no real maps at all that go into detail further than the in-game map. Most of the breakthroughs are incredibly vague and don't give you information you are looking for to complete mission. I regret this buy.

If you're looking for it for your collection get it if not go online.
A great book if you enjoy the artwork and like back story stuff and if you just need a hand here or a hit there, but it is completely worthless if you're trying to use it to find the best path through the game. The actual game guide starts about halfway through the book. Everything else is about gear enemies back story and art. Usually I like this stuff but in this guy that just seems to obscure with the players actually trying to find.

Ah Yes, 'Strategy Guide', We have dismissed these claims.
I am normally a forgiving man, or at least a lazy enough one that I don't bother to post reviews of products that don't meet my standards. This 'strategy guide' has done the previously unprecedented in getting me to badmouth it. I might forgive, or at least forget the lack of codes, maps, and useful instruction, but when I manage to accidentally blunder my way to accomplishing a persuasion the guide assures me is completely impossible, I can no longer remain silent.I got this guide despite seeing the bad reviews for it, and knowing that Prima guides can be hit or miss. Congratulations, you have ensured that I will never make that mistake again.

Good guide but some info missing/incorrect
The guide is helpful overall, but contains some errors and inconsistencies. For example, one of the side missions says that it is available almost immediately upon starting in the first open-world city you encounter when it actually is not available until much later in the game after a few main missions have already taken place. Some of the detailed mission descriptions to complete a mission skip through some of the key steps like where some of the enemies are or what codes are to locked doors that the book doesn't indicate are in your way. This book is a good 90% solution to getting through the game but the player needs to be able to figure a few things out on their own in order to fully complete the missions.

Huge Disapointment, Don't waste your money.
This has been one of the worst guidebooks I have ever purchased, and with a game that a guidebook could really be utilized for. As an example, in one section of the game, the guide says there is a place to drop down to avoid detection and no where was it to be found. I have missed secret trophies because of this guide book. I find myself just running around and doing my own thing and being just as successful. If I could return this and get my money back, I would.

Missed Opportunity
For a video game like Deus Ex the opportunity is there for authors to really go to town with the details and capitalise on the non-linear gameplay, showcasing the variety of different ways of approach an objective, useful items that can be picked up along the way, points of interest that might be missed dependant on play style, etc. The guide that was released for Deus Ex Human Revolution picked up on these possibilities, culminating a fantastic addition to the game that rewarded those who wanted to seek and unearth all the game had to offer.Unfortunately, the strategy guide for Mankind Divided does not follow this formula and is ultimately a huge disappointment. For some reason it was decided that Future Press (Human Revolution guide authors) would be replaced by Prima for this release, which is an immediate cause for concern based on their previous work. The result, is a barebones 'guide' which frankly tells you little more than what the in-game objective markers tell you. Maps are used to solely show where the key objectives are - there is no mapping of possible routes to suit a stealth or combat play style, neither is there any indication of key or useful items. Instead, there is basic text describing what you should do for a stealth or combat run. Nothing more. The entire walkthrough is reduced to little more than 120 pages, including side missions, which for a game of this size is pitiful. The rest of the pages provide information on augs and characters but even these don't add much more information than the game itself. Why wasn't there tips on character builds for specific play styles, for instance? Additionally, for any trophy / achievement hunters out there, don't expect to find any assistance from this book. You literally just get a list with the descriptions. No tips, no guide, nothing. There is one trophy in particular that requires finding all of the ebooks in the game that is ideal for book like this, yet it isn't mentioned anywhere except for this generic list, which is really helpful. In short - do not buy this guide. You are much better using your money to buy the fantastic art book that was released alongside this.

I'm saying it's OK, nothing more and probably a bit less but I couldn't give it 2.5 stars...
It's better than the hilariously named 'Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Deluxe Edition Guide' for the Kindle Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Deluxe Edition Guide which despite being an official thing from Square Enix is a dire list of trophies/achievements/weapons and not much else. It's nowhere near as good as the Piggyback guides you can get for other games. I'm comparing this with the Assassin's Creed series of guides from Piggyback, a company that understands the value of attaching a label such as 'limited edition' or 'collector's edition' to a title. Sadly, it seems that Prima reckon adding a dark and dull supersized postcard of a boring scene and calling it 'high quality lithograph' is all it takes. Lithograph? More like having a laugh, if you ask me.I purchased this from the Amazon Warehouse as a used item, but there's no damage at all that I could see. Thankfully, this means I only paid £14 for it, which is still twice what it's worth. That may sound harsh, but while I appreciate this is a hardback volume of 280 pages, the artwork is uninspiring and the page quality just feels a notch below the Piggyback gold standard. It's the maps that really lose me though, they just don't stand out off the page. In fact they are pretty boring, which is a shame as the game isn't.On the plus side, it does provide help with getting through the game and the side missions. don't expect any help with getting the trophies and achievements though, unless you classify a list as help of course. There's actually more meat on the bone in the Kindle guide in this regard, if no other. The two together still don't add up to a Piggyback whole though.I wouldn't describe this as 100% complete, and thankfully neither do the publishers by the look of it. I'm giving it three stars because it will help me get through the game, as I'm a rubbish gamer being an old man and all, and that's why I bought it. I had hoped for better production values, better artwork, a little feeling like Prima cared. Denied.Really, I should have saved my cash and just Googled the bits I get stuck on for free... Worst Guide I have ever bought
I bought this as I am a big fan of the deus ex series and having bought the collectors edition for human evolution I thought his would be to a similar quality level. Boy was I mistaken. The lack of details in this are just shocking, missing basic hints on how best to get through conversations to totally missing out details on where to find hidden items like praxis kits. It also has some things pointing to quests I don't think exist. I had to use online guides to get some of the missions fully completed. About the only good thing is the cover and the art section the rest is woefully inadequate.
