Respectable Sins Discussion Guide: Confronting the Sins We Tolerate Paperback – September 7, 2007

The author of this is not the author of the book it goes with. So he does reorder the chapters in the guide to his personal preference. Also the questions you answer are not the ones you discuss in your small group. The discussion questions deal more with opinions and feelings which is not what our group is about. This guide is no longer necessary as it is included in the newer editions, the one for small group study being preferred because it it puts everything in order and follows each reading assignment instead of being separate or placed at the end of the book. I do like the questions you do for homework and would suggest these as opposed to the ones earmarked for discussion.

I have read through the book "Respectable Sins" by Jerry Bridges two times this last year. The first time, it was for personal benefit.The second time, I read it along with a group of men to study. We used the study guide to direct our reading and discussion when we met weekly.The study guide has an opening question, some questions for yourself, some questions for your group, and some practical application steps.I highly recommend this guide as a resource for either private or group study. It is easy to use and would be a blessing for a Sunday School class or small group.

I am really glad I read this in a Book Club. At times I did not like the book, but seeing it through the eyes of others with discussion help to bring the message home.It was very enlightening.

This book will change your life. If you are a believer and are serious about your walk with God, this book is a must. We often don't acknowledge sin as the one thing that keeps us from finding God's will. This book will help you recognize the small sins that society says are "acceptable". It only takes one sin to interrupt your walk with God. Each sin takes us back into a self-driven world.

Respectable Sins the Sins We Tolerate is a great book for a Bible study. Six senior ladies in our community just started it as our new Bible Study and we are pleased - causes lots of discussions. The separate Discussion Guide is also very helpful. It should be a book read and studied by all. In my lifetime (76 yrs) lifestyles in our great country (USA) have changed so drastically that my parents and grandparents would be aghast at sins we tolerate and/or turn our heads instead of confronting.

If you truly desire to understand what grieves God, to gain a greater appreciation for His Holiness and the Grace that He extends to His people, this is an amazing book. I certainly have found myself in many of the sins that society has come to label as "acceptable". I will read this book more than once. It also goes hand in hand with the book Holiness: The Heart God Purifies by Nancy Leigh DeMoss

The study guide was helpful and had some good questions for discussion. The 'chapters' of the study guide did not match up well with the book chapters and sometimes the chapters were out of order by the book. A bit confusing and hard to coordinate for a large group.
