Crisis Intervention Strategies 8th Edition

I'm in a Masters Program at Liberty University for Pastoral Counseling and taking a course in Crisis Counseling. While the textbooks for the course are excellent, while listening to a lecture and capturing the text in closed captioning, I noted the citation referencing this text. I went to Amazon Kindle books to consider buying it and was put off by the expensive price at first, but after reading some excerpts that related to an assignment I had, I bought the book immediately. As I continued to read the book I was struck by the material and how it's not necessarily filled with "Academia-Speak" but rather it's written in plain-language that a student can understand and yet is sophisticated enough to use for citing in papers. Great read... long book, many pages, but a great read for the counselor. Much of the narrative is not only usable in crisis and trauma, but also with counselees who are seeking some cognitive change in their lives.

The text book is great (and new) but it does not come with access to MindTap as suggested in the description when it says "New videos in MindTap (available with the text) correlate with the text and demonstrate crisis intervention techniques...". This is disappointing because I bought the new text books specifically for access to MindTap resources required by my institution.

I liked the way this textbook was written. It was detailed, informative and used casual speech. It's not one of those textbooks where the authors put simple concepts into complex words to stroke their egos.

This is a 600-page book. It is very intense. I grow up with abuse and this book talks in detail about rape, abuse, domestic abuse, loss, mega-crises, and etc... I don' recommend this book unless you have been on the healing the road for your life. I had many triggers from this book. The plus side is that the book also goes into detail about healing and treatment for such things. Which was huge for me. Good luck.

Awesome hard cover textbook. Very durable. A great value for college students. Lots of relevant chapters that are consistent with current themes in the real world of first responders & essential crisis workers & disaster workers.

what you learn from this book will never be not far from your use not matter what crisis ....It is for anyone interested in tactics for response regardless of the crisis
