Q: Proper wiring diagram ?. hard to see colors in picture. put "gold" next to ground pin in diagram.

I can't remember, but I think it is the center post. Just connect the ground to it and touch a 12v positive to any of the others to see if it lights.

Q: Posted power is "12V/24V, 20A" does this rate at 40A for 12V?

These are LED lamps. Their load is in milliamperes

Q: will these light up properly only running 5volts through them?

Since they are LED lamps, I doubt they would work at only 5v.

Q: What guage are the wire leads ?

If I had to guess, they are probably 18 gauge. They don’t have to be any larger than that. Even 18 gauge is large for the load.
