Good read
I feel that calling it 'edge-of-the-seat' is a bit of an exaggeration, but I enjoyed this book as it is more light -hearted and not as dark as some detective books. I am starting to feel tired of detectives who have PTSD from a major bereavement, as this also seems to be a common theme in books but that's just my preference. This book is well written, with interesting characters and a good story line. I'm moving on to the next book in the series now!

A cracking tread
A page turner drawing the reader in to the plot. I thoroughly enjoyed the snippets of humour interspersed with the intriguing storyline.

Great read
I really enjoyed this book and being a local , Hastings born and bred it was even better . Great relatable characters and I may even have developed a crush on Boyd!

Looking forward to reading the next one
Really, really enjoyed this. All main characters are extremely relatable and the great Alex Scarrow writes his new DCI series really well (and also the inclusion of difficult surname pronunciations, even if I did have to keep repeating it in my head, but that's me :)). So if you are after a decent British detective series. Look no further. You won't be disappointed. Just off to buy the second in the series. Ta-rah for now.

Loved it
Great read and not predictable at all which is always a bonus. Love to hear about the private lives of the characters- makes them more real. Hope it gets to TV and hope they do it justice. Looking forward to reading the others in this series

Too much bad language for me.
I really enjoyed this book but for me there is too much bad language which I felt unnecessary.

Enjoyable detective series, will read the rest of the series
Detective stories aren't my main genre. But I really like this author so have bought all the first six books as they were published, its just taken me a long time to get round to reading them. Like the fact they are sensibly priced. I found the main characters interesting & there is a back story to DCI Boyd which I am not going to spoil but it does get explored more a the series goes on. These are not taxing to read, just enjoyable, well written and they do have twists & turns. Captured my interest enough that I read the first six in the series in row & enjoyed each one. Well worth your money.
