I recently had an order for a wedding cake that was a castle against a night sky and the bride wanted the cake to be navy blue. I read a lot of reviews and settled on trying this coloring. I generally use Wilton but have found that it is not as good with super saturated colors. I was very happy with this coloring. Realistically navy blue is very difficult to get when you are starting with a white base. I did add some black but that was primarily to try and minimize the amount of dye I was adding to the icing. The color held and did not run even after freezing. The color also did not break down my icing. It is true that you still have to use quite a bit of the coloring to get the navy color but that is to be expected with any highly saturated color. Also, the appearance of the color changed greatly depending on the lighting in the room. My icing was a beautiful navy blue in lower lighting but in a room with lots of natural lighting had more of a royal blue look to it. All in all I think it's a great product and performed according to my expectations.

It was the perfect Navy Blue that I needed for my cake! To get it more like a midnight blue I added a little black and violet in the cream cheese frosting! Didn't change the taste or texture! I have a Star Wars cake in July I am doing and can't wait to use this food gel colouring!! 😊
