A heavy-duty essential tool for releasing and uncoupling old large water connections. Works best on pipe diameters 2" inches or larger up to about 6". Would be nice if the manufacturer also made a smaller version.Your days of fidgeting and fighting with water pump pliers and pipe wrenches, while wrangling that impossible connector... done. Tool is easy to use and makes short work of your connection.Place your strap wrench on your connector, lay it out on a bench, and then you can use both hands to unthread steel and PVC connections.Using this tool to tighten a connection will probably result in a forever bond. Do it right with a thorough pre-cleaning of your threaded parts, use teflon tape on threads, install new gaskets or O-rings as needed.Unsure about the oil filter claim, the tool's 12" metal handle is likely a squeeze in smaller spaces. Invest in a filter wrench.I also tried this product available here on Amazon, "ZAITOE Magic LUBE Teflon Lubricant Swimming Pool O-Ring Gasket LUBE Grease 631". Works well on threads for frequent connects and disconnects, keeping ball-valves (aka, "shutoffs) working smoothly, O-rings and hose gaskets limber.

Seems to work ok on larger round tightening large rings. Does have tendency to slide down

I had a plastic "wrench" designed for removing my water filters, but a plumber was the last to replace the filter last time and he cranked it on really tight. When I tried to remove it, the plastic wrench broke. But this one worked great, the handle is a sturdy metal, iron or steel, 12" long and narrow enough to slide a pipe over if you need to extend it for more leverage. The strap adjusts to any size and has ridges that grip on to ridges on the filter housing.

I took one whole house water filter cover off and it broke on the 2nd one. The two rivets that hold the strap guide and leverage are hollow and one bent and broke away from the hinge.

Does what it needs to do. Strap seems to be well made. Handle seems stout, but I haven't put any real stress on it yet. Will fit a pretty large water filter housing.

I was looking for a large enough wrench to loosen the large drain plug on my pool filter system. This wrench works really well and grips as it should.
