High Quality and Compact
Mic stands don't have much potential for exceeding expectations. A mic stand is either works and is good, or does not work and is bad. Fortunately, this stand is of the former category.A mic stand's job is to hold a mic in a chosen position and be able to do that effectively throughout its lifetime. That means quality parts ensuring stability and ruggedness over years of moving and adjustments are necessary. If it's of low quality, it won't hold a mic's position now, and certainly won't years down the line. This stand has been going strong for nearly 4 years now. Because of its size, I use it for anything and everything besides far, overhead boom scenarios when using shotgun mics. Even for streaming and desktop vocal needs, when a desk-mounted boom arm can't be moved nicely or is in an awkward position due to its inability to rotate at the mount, I use this small stand on my desk to sub in.Each section is fitted with high quality parts that hold the mic in place without fail. At full extension, the boom covers considerable ground and the heavy base further amplifies its low stature's inherent stability. I'm no engineer, nor am I a physicist, but I'd imagine its proportions are as much as one can ask for while maintaining good balance. With the amount of moving and usage this has seen over the last 4 years, I'm happy to say it has paid for itself. I was skeptical of something so small costing $100, but it was worth every penny. If it fails in the future, I'm already satisfied with the amount of usage I've already gotten out of it up til now. I'm going to be replacing all of my normal size stands because the cheap On-Stage and Samson stands have been broken since I bought them. I'm hoping the quality translates to larger sizes. If it does, I'll be using K&M for everything I can.

One Great Small Mic Stand
These have become my goto stand for lots of different uses. Their small size makes them ideal for tons of different jobs. Guitar amps, drums, acoustic instruments, seated vocalists, just about anything from floor level to about 50" off the ground. The upright part of the stand goes up to about 28" at the boom hinge and then the boom goes to a tad under 51". They're built like tanks. The only ongoing issue I have is that the legs get loose and can kind of flop around but this can be easily fixed with an allen wrench, one of which I have tied to our mic stand cart. The main negative is that they are on the pricey side but I use them daily and they're never babied and have held up to some pretty hard use which I can't say about some of the cheaper stands I've bought. One of the main differences is the quality of the tightening hardware. On the K&M it works like a vise handle and always hold well and is easily loosened. On the cheaper stands it can be difficult to get them tight enough to hold a mic at the boom's full extension without it drooping and then can be a real bear to loosen.Would I buy again? Yes, in fact I have... about 8 times.

Boom stand? Nope!
K&M low profile boom stand arrived WITHOUT THE BOOM! Additionally, the set knob to lock the leg assembly to the shaft was missing. Surface scratches, no paperwork from manufacturer. Obviously not a new product. I’ll look at other options.

Wow, great quality on this stand. It cost a little more, but it was worth it.
I've been gigging and recording for 40 years. I have some old mic stands that are built like tanks, and some newer ones that work, but just barely. This was my fist K&M and I was a little nervous about paying this much, but I was pleasantly surprised. This stand has some weight to it, solid tubing, a hub that looks like it would survive a mortar blast, and a nicely engineered boom. It looks about the same as those cheap ones, but it's not. It is sturdy, balanced, and everything works like it should. In you are in that place where it is worth a bit more money to get something that will last, this is the one. I'll be buying more K&M!

Fantastic small and portable mic stand (not full height).
I love this stand. It does exactly what I needed it to do, which was:- Fit in a backpack (when broken down into two pieces and folded up).- Support my tablet PC (with my custom holder) which I use to display my chord charts. This stand is *NOT* tall enough to be a vocal mic stand, but that's OK, that's made very clear in the product specifications. It's meant to be a shorter stand. In my particular case, this means that the stand is the perfect height for my song charts on my tablet PC, which I try to keep down at about waist level. One note: The "footprint" of this mic stand is not as wide as a full-height mic stand would be. this is by design, but, it makes it slightly more prone to tipping over if you're not careful.

Very useful size, well-built
Awesome for miking drums and amplifiers. Full size stands are always too big and bulky, but most small ones are too small. Very important: this stand is too tall for the straight-into-the-kickdrum-hole technique--it doesn't adjust low enough. But it's correct for any guitar/bass amp, and great for snare, toms, and outside the kick. Just tall enough to use even on a short vocalist, or a standing acoustic guitar player. K & M is the good quality stuff!

Best mic stand made
I made a mistake buying this thinking it would reach high enough to use for vocals. That’s my fault. Besides that you can’t get a better made mic B ion or stand
