I used this book to start my study efforts, and I think it helped get me in the right frame of mind for what types of questions would be asked on the exam, and what types of information I needed to read up on. I also used Carefront Publications practice questions with answer explanations. After using these two books in combination, I took the NEA Readiness test (offered by ANCC - 60 questions), which I failed by one question. I went back to review information I had highlighted in this book and the other book, and wrote notes on what I felt was pertinent to my study efforts. I had ordered flash cards, but these were really useless in terms of studying for this exam. The flash cards are not useful because the test is really mostly about your judgment in various situations, with some straight knowledge questions thrown in. I took the ANCC Interactive Review Course and the Certification Practice IQ about 2 weeks before the test, and this was very useful last-minute guidance. I went through all of the sample questions that the ANCC gives for both the Nurse Executive and Nurse Executive Advanced tests, and reviewed and made notes on correct answer choices. I took the test - as I left the test, I was not sure that I had passed - but I found out within an hour that I did!

This book was not worth the almost $100.00 I spent on it. It was thin and a really vague and basic overview. The worst part was the numerous and horrible typos. A review book for an executive level certification should not contain the mistakes this book had.
