DMC 317WPK4 Light Effects Polyester Embroidery Floss, 8.7-Yard, Holiday

I bought this thread along with the glow-in-the-dark E940 to make a Halloween banner with my kids. The light effects thread is gorgeous under sunlight and under black light, though I was diasappointed that a couple of the included colors aren't light effects (lavender for instance). So I was very disappointed when I realized that all of our threads were coming undone; the thread is too slippery to lock either with overstitching or with a knot, everything slips out. The thread would work better for cross stitch where a tail can be woven under the stitches. I ended up taping the back of the work and will go back with hot glue later.

I bought this package of cross stitch floss thinking the colors would glow in the dark, but alas, they do not (but DMC E940 does glow in the dark). That's ok, because these colors are still great quality, like DMC always has, and I'm sure I'll find something to stitch with them.

These are beautiful, and were exactly what I was hoping for when looking for NEONS. However, they are difficult to work with, similar (but not quite as bad as) metallics.

Thread was included and looked fine, but was missing the designs that were supposed to be included.

I am experimenting with painting perforated paper with Golden fluorescent acrylics, and then stitching small motifs with this floss. Under the black light, all of the colors glow nicely except for the blue, which is sort of dull under the UV; but typically it's hard to find a real nice blue under UV light. I find the texture of the floss to be a little difficult, sort of feels like stitching with silk, which I myself do not care for. Feels weird on my fingers. I've updated this with a photo under the black light. Purple glows, but not as purple, more of a rusty, dull color. Blue is also dull. The other colors are brilliant and glow much better than they appear in this photo.

Boy have I arrived from the "dark ages" when it comes to hand embroidery! This floss package is GREAT. It just took me a while to learn how to use it correctly for the best results. But that was okay, it didn't cost me anything but patience. I just considered it a lesson worth learning.

Got out the blacklight for my project to check them, and swing and a miss, these aren’t fluorescent.The Blue is not fluorescent at all, the Purple is as minimal as I’ve ever seen, and the Pink - while fluorescent - is bizarrely dark compared to the others (which is odd considering how pink tends to be a more reliable colour for fluorescing).Orange and Green are on par, Yellow slightly brighter than them.
