An excellent publication, highly recommended to anyone with an interest in these iconic trains.
Having known the author for a number of years both through his work on the NMT, and also from the lineside through our mutual interest in railway photography, I always knew that this was going to be a very good book indeed. And I wasn't disappointed for the book is not only 'chock full' with high quality images of HST's at work all over the country, both past and present, but also the text and captions are also highly informative and accurate.Well done Andrew for a truly excellent book and if it was possible to give six stars, I would.Mick.

Terrific history of the HSTs with some great privileged access pictures from behind the scenes
A comprehensive pictorial history showing these trains working a variety of services all over the country. There is an absolute wealth of information contained in the captions. As a 25 year experienced railwayman even I was picking up bits of information that I didn't know such as the use of polymer to secure the ballast on canted track at Paddington. There are some great pictures of unusual workings and occurrences such as a Class 91 piloting an HST and one with an old style tail lamp attached. There are some in-cab pictures of the driver in control at 125mph and lovely early morning shots around various depots. Reproduction quality is also superb. A must have book for anyone interested in these revolutionary trains.

The train that saved Britain’s Railways.
This is an all colour picture book on the class 43 HST’s, brilliant picture many of which I have never seen before and comes with simple text weighting, this book is a pleasure to read and covers many different paint styles this class has worn over the last 40 years. This book is worth a read if you are fond of the class 43’s.

Excellent, glossy pictures
This is a comprehensive pictorial history of the train that saved Britain's railways. A really good book full of high quality full colour pictures with informed captions and printed on good quality paper. The book is accessible as it doesn't dwell on the highly detailed technical or operational minutiae so loved of technical tomes and instead lets the superb photography tell the story.I am sure enthusiasts will love it but it is easily absorbable by these with merely a passing interest in railways or history. You can open any page and find something interesting and informative set out clearly and with the story told by high quality photographs.A really high quality and enjoyable book.

Huge Disappointment. Some good pics ruined by random ordering and little info about the history.
Been looking forward to this book but it hugely disappoints. From the first page the order is bizarre as are some of section headings. You have to search through a few pages before you even see the iconic blue and yellow Intercity 125 livery. Some decent pics (hence 2 stars not 1) but a complete mess of a book really and not what people will be expecting.
