American Best Food Candied Lemon Peel Slices, Delicious Candied Lemon Slices 1 Lb

Delicious and fresh! Good for medicinal purposes as well!

I am not a picky person, and normally I wouldn't bother writing a review, but I was extremely disappointed with these peels. I bought this and the orange peel pieces from the same company, and I am equally disappointed with both of them. First, they arrive wet and gummy, lacking anything close to that crystallized, dry finish that it claims it has that candied fruit should. The texture is objectionable, with each piece being closer to some sort of gummy with a firm bite than anything that could ever come from a lemon. Second, it lacks almost any noticeable lemon flavor or scent. If I were given a piece blindfolded, I doubt I'd guess lemon flavor, much less candied lemon peel. Candied peels are often used in cakes and such to flavor them, but this doesn't have enough flavor by itself. It also has this very odd chemical-tasting flavor and aftertaste, and it's not a good one. Overall, just do not buy this. It is a sad mockery of what candied lemon rind should be, and is useless for most any application you might expect it to serve in.

Big fan of candied lemon peel in general and the ones made in Japan are absolutely fantastic. I don't expect a brand outside of Japan to be of the same level, but these particular ones I got were completely off the mark. At first it tasted fine in my mouth, but as I started chewing, this plastic, chemical taste starts to seep out and everything just stated fowl. Me and my wife quickly spitted out the peel and that's it for this big 16oz bag. Maybe it's a bad batch? I don't know, but I'll be looking elsewhere.

The lemon peels were a bit more gritty than I would have expected, but they were flavorful and delivered in a timely manner.

This is the second year I've purchased candied orange and lemon peel from American Best Food to make an Italian confection for holiday gift giving. The portions are generous and the products freeze perfectly. It's simply the most beautiful and delicious orange and lemon peel I've ever experienced!

I bought the same brand of candied orange peel and lemon peel at the same time. The orange peel was exactly as expected. The candied lemon peel, however, was not at all what I expected. The slices were very large--larger than almost any lemon I've met. The flavor was only slightly citrus and not particularly lemony. I think this might actually be citron, the stuff that adds bulk to fruitcake. I won't be doing any DNA testing to prove it, but this rather expensive bag of candy is still uneaten nearly a year later. Not recommended.

These are delicious and I really love any rind orange ,lemon, but I just wish they we’re made with little to no sugar . They would be fantastic for those of us that like the tartness of the rind itself and just a smidge of whatever goo it’s in would still be plenty and still taste great. These are so good to just eat out of the package or bake with ,you’ll enjoy them and be back for more :) I leave the orange and lemon bags on the corner of the counter and everyone loves to enjoy a few.
