LEGO 71360 Super Mario Adventures Starter Course Toy

Bought this for my son he loves it he has had hours of fun with it. Batteries die quite quickly. Quite complex to build my 5year old needed help but good and strong.

When Mario lego was first announced, I wanted to hate it. I love Mario, I love Lego, & there's a way that I would have liked to see these things combined. These sets weren't it. Mario (& Luigi) look goofy (in fact the general aesthetic just looked rubbish) & I couldn't wrap my head around the appeal of playing with it.Then my son saw a set & begged me to get him some for his birthday. Of course, I eventually gave in. He loved it & I, in the process of helping him build the courses, realised I love it too.Honestly, it's just really good fun in ways that other more traditional Lego sets (e.g. Star Wars, DC/Marvel etc) fail to be. Yes, it's still a bit ugly, & sometimes flimsy, but you can really let your imagination soar.We're getting him this Luigi starter course for Christmas. I know for a fact he will love it & better yet, he'll be ready for the Luigi's Mansion sets coming out in a couple of months' time.

A great addition to the Lego Mario series.Firstly this does not come with instructions in the traditional sense, whether you like it or now it's all via an app now. The app also connects (via bluetooth) to the Luigi character without much problem for updates or whilst playing the game.The builds are simple, you just follow the short step-by-step guides in the app and you're good to go. A few blocks and plates create the myriad of small towers used in the game and a slightly more intersting build to make the characters found in the set that Luigi must 'bounce' on to get points and powerups. Some great technic parts go into assembling the see-saw tower that spins around.Once built you can assemble a course however you like, and include in characters (from the character series released periodically) to interact with your Lego Luigi (and expand upon the standard setup here that comes with just a couple of characters...), you then collect coins bouncing on enemies and beating the timer before it runs out. A clever way to bring the computer game side of things into the real world - thanks to Lego!

Is a great product from lego only thing is that it's easy to get the scanner to stop working specially if your kid plays with it all the time and then it's frustrating to play on the other lego set as it will not work in the barcode. I have bought 3 Mario's and 2 luigi for that reason as muy son love it so much. And Lego will only replace it once.The price is a lot cheaper then lego shop.

Fantastic idea to combine the Mario game into lego. My boys live lego and Mario so this was the perfect gift. They loved the interactive Luigi and even just play with him on his own. The online instructions were very easy to follow that my 7yr old and 4yr old built most of it on their own.

I purchased this just for the Luigi and other characters I've not built the level but all are of great quality. You don't get paper instructions and have to use an app but if you don't want to download and install it the instructions are available in pdf format from the lego website for free and are very easy to use.
