Very nice coffee to start your day
Never bitter, good flavor. This is a hard flavor to find and I love being able to buy a huge bag at a decent price.

Try it, you won't be dissapointed.
Karen's husband review: I'm a single origin guy. I like bright Costa Rican and acidic, wine Ethiopian natural and honey processed coffees. I aeropress most of the coffee I drink, and use a pour over for bulk brewing. I have a professional grinder and use a digital scale and temp controlled kettle. I'm THAT kind of coffee snob. Having said that, this coffee is the only flavored coffee that I not only will drink, but look forward to its place in my rotation. What they have done here is magic. They took caramel, butterscotch and hazelnut (or is it walnut?) and tastefully infused a wonderfully medium roasted bean with a precise hand at the throttle. Drink it black, I do. And that's saying something as most flavored coffee is cheap harsh commodity grade stuff that needs cream and sugar to be tolerated. Then they offer it for a very reasonable price, and it's my understanding that they roast in batches, hense the occasional lulls in availability. I find 2lbs too much to get through in my 5-6 bean rotation in time, so I split the bag with someone, but if you like good quality and highly affordable flavored coffee, you've found all you might ever need. Gosh, it's good chilled over ice, too. I'm contemplating trying their other varieties as well. It's great stuff, if for some reason you don't like it, make a cup for a friend and ask if they want the bag. I guarantee there are not two people in any given area that both dislike this coffee. It's not possible. **EDIT 5-19-20** It’s still just as good! We have increased our consumption of this to where we can’t share the bag anymore. Also, don’t hesitate to try the Cow Tipper, I don’t know which I like more now vs the Mississippi Grog, but we find ourselves enjoying Verena street even a little more on weekends when we have time to enjoy coffee throughout the day. I send a ground pouch out to my mother and have got a couple friends to try and enjoy. There’s nothing like single origin beans, but don’t miss out on a well brewed cup of Verena St, with a good, well thought out flavor that is strong but not overwhelming. If for some reason you don’t like it, give it to another coffee drinker you know, I bet they will.

Good quality coffee, good quality flavor.
This stuff is delicious. Smells amazing, tastes like it smells. If you're into sweet, flavored coffees that doesnt taste "flavored," this is perfect. If you like your regular coffee, but just want to give it a little something extra, this is exactly right. The beans are fresh and oily and the flavor is really soaked through - not just a coating - for an even, balanced brew. Perfectly respectable medium roast all on it's own, it has great body and a nice, smooth coffee flavor. I prefer it as a mixer to smooth out my dark roast and it is just what I was looking for. It balances out the acidity and bitterness to my Italian roast and adds more complexity and body to both the Italian roast and my go-to dark roast, Pablo's Pride (Guatemalan), without compromising the quality of the coffee itself. Flavored coffees are much easier to find in a poor quality bean, which tastes like weak, flavored dirt on it's own and ends up taking away from the natural coffee flavor-body-balance, etc, when mixing. Always disappointing to find a nice quality coffee and, when you're looking to just spruce/change it up a bit, end up ruining it with what you realize, too late, to be flavored sawdust. My cup of joe still tastes like a damn good cup of joe when I use it - balanced and full of quality coffee taste - just with a little something extra. The best part about it to me is that it tastes like natural, real ingredients, and the body and creaminess of the brew compliments the flavored elements. It truly adds more than just taste to your brew. I mix it about 20/80 with Pablo (a more balanced, medium-dark roast) and about 35/65 with the Italian to get my balanced and tasty cuppa. I've only brewed with it on my fancy regular drip, so far, but I'm sure the flavor would be even more creamy and aromatic in a press. It does smell amazing. I get really amped for my coffee when i smell it brewing. Lol Definitely recommend. I'd like it to be a bit more affordable (like -10cents/oz), but at this quality, I'll definitely keep it in my rotation. I just wont buy it as much - treat only. #budgeting Here's Pablo. Mixes perfectly: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B008FW60DG/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_ttpGEbBRYYCDY

I'm a coffee snob, first and foremost
I love coffee. My doctors confirmed a heart issue. I still love coffee, so it was either drink any coffee I could get my hands on that made me giddy with pleasure and made all my troubles fade away or live longer. Let me tell you, I had a long and arduous inner dialogue going on. I completely ignored the physicians and their pedantic warnings about caffeine while I toiled and fretted over the "do you choose curtain number one or curtain number two?" dilemma. I thunk and thunk, and after I had a good thunk, I decided I'd try caffeine-free coffee again. I always likened it to hot river water. In fact, I often said, "caffeine-free coffee and tea is a waste of hot water." So, I tried some coffees and hated it. I especially hated the blasphemous processes in which some coffees are subjected to rid them of the blissful caffeine. So, I decided on the Swiss Water Process and then started looking at coffees that used THAT process. I am glad I found Verena Street, Sunday Drive, Whole Bean. It is good. It is very good. There is no metallic after taste, no acidic bite and it is as smooth as West Coast Jazz. This really is a good coffee and when I first opened the bag, I swear I heard a choir strike up Vivaldi's "Gloria." It is sooo good in the French Press and even good with Keurig if you happen to have the more advanced machine that allows hotter water and a slower, stronger brew. I buy whole bean coffee and grind it as I need it. By buying the Whole Bean, the coffee stays fresher longer and there is less oxidation going on. Store the beans in a vacuum-sealer jar, if you have it. If you also toss in a few oxygen-absorbing pads, sold separately on Amazon, then the beans stay baby fresh--and... don't store your beans in the freezer or refrigerator. Ever. Now you know!

Just really good coffee.
This is really good coffee. I’m not a huge coffee person. I used to drink one cup in the morning just to get going. But after purchasing Verena Street I now have a cup in the afternoon as well. I find myself looking forward to it as soon as I have finished the first. My first order arrived quickly but sat in a black mailbox all afternoon on a 100+ degree day. In direct sun. When I opened the package the bag of coffee beans was fully inflated with air. This was the first time I had ordered a bag of any kind of coffee and didn’t know if it meant there was an issue with the bag being sealed. The bags at the store always have little air in them. I emailed the company and they replied promptly and explained the beans give off a gas after roasting and the bag can be expected to have some level of air in it. It also has a vent for that purpose. I opened the bag and it smelled great and tasted perfect. I have nearly finished my first bag and just ordered my second. I will add any new info to this review after it arrives and I’ve tasted it. Update: I am currently halfway through my 3rd bag of Julien’s Breakfast Blend and am still loving it! All three bags have been consistent in aroma, flavor and freshness. I have no complaints about product, shipping or customer service. Ordering coffee from Verena Street has been a great experience! Update my update: I’m just finishing my 4th (or 5th?) bag of Julien’s breakfast blend. About to order my next bag. I can’t believe how consistent the beans have been since I began ordering. I have no complaints. Everyone who’s tried a cup has commented on it or asked for the brand. I even had a friend ask for a handful of the beans to put in a mesh bag and place in her car as an scented air freshener.

Don't Toss Your Flavored Creamer Just Yet!
Verena Street Cow Tipper coffee is not bad. It is somewhat oily but still works in my superautomatic espresso machine--the likely reason people are asking if it is oily. Some superautomatics can tend to jam when using oily beans. Verena Street Cow Tipper is reasonably good quality. I don't understand the people that are saying it is expensive though. It is a 2-pound bag for $20--that's not expensive. Maybe they're used to buying Maxwell House? I was hoping that the "so flavorful you won’t need to use flavored creamers" comment was true but it isn't. It SMELLS amazing, but like so many other flavored coffees, the flavor is almost completely lost in brewing--at least in my espresso machine. It tastes almost like unflavored black coffee. Maybe it would be different in a filter coffee machine. The bag I received was also over roasted (like a dark roast) and a bit bitter. I considered a 4-star rating, however, as a flavored coffee, which this claims to be, it gets 3 stars—it's ok.

From a picky coffee guy/former cafe owner: Excellent. (Decaf drinker.)
Due to doctor's orders, I've been drinking only decaf for years, and have climbed the ladder to very high quality coffee making equipment, basically a smaller version of the powerful, heavy gear I used in a cafe I owned, or like you'd see in any good cafe. I usually switch back and forth between saving money and using Trader Joe's beans, and spending a lot for the best beans I can find as a treat, like Chris's Coffee, Peet's, Blue Bottle, Joe, Intelligensia Black Cat, Grumpy, etc, and I always have my eye open for something in the middle... a great coffee that makes espresso for americanos and milk-based drinks like lattes, cappuccinos, and my wife loves mochas with a few kinds of chocolate mixed in. Plus, her family is from Brazil, so there's the added pressure of living up to the quality of coffee they're all used to! On occasion, Costco has had 2 or 5lb bags of high quality decaf beans, but for the past year I've only found it once, every time I've been lately they have 5-8 types of excellent caff, but no decaf. So I went on the hunt on Amazon and found these beans. I didn't expect too much for about $10/lb (the same or maybe even less than Trader Joe's French Roast decaf), but the reviews were really good, and importantly, it was Swiss Water decaf, the cleanest decaf process involving no toxins or chemicals. And I (and my wife) are incredibly impressed by the quality, smell, taste, and did I say QUALITY of these beans? I hope they don't use my positive review, or all of them, to raise prices, but to be honest, I would pay a little more for these beans. I owned a cafe for 10 years and probably made close to a half a million coffee drinks in that decade, and would've been fine with these beans then or now if I opened another one. Great job, Verena - you have a new regular customer. J
