Can I take a rectal temperature with this?

This is a culinary thermometer meant for piercing flesh. The only rectum this should be near is your back pocket unless you are taking the rectal temperature of a whole beast roasting on a spit.

Is this unit waterproof? How fast is the readout?

Instant readout and nice and clear. States it's waterproof. I haven't had any issues using it while it snowed outside ;)

Does it work for candy?

It would work for candy that melted into a liquid state, it will work for literally anything that the probe will sink into.

The Best among the ones I have tried

I LOVE IT!

It's perfect. I had just bought a cheap one that ruined my first batch of dahi, proving again that going cheap is the most expensive. So I found this one, not the highest price, but looking sturdy and reliable, but it's better than all the advertising. It functions perfectly and I can trust it. Absolutely worth it! And just to add that I love that it's USB charged and not cell. Even the packaging is very well done! If you need a thermometer for cooking, as I do, don't hesitate on this one, and don't risk ruining things with a cheap one!
