THIS STUFF IS GREAT, PRACTICAL, AND INEXPENSIVE AND WORKS ON ANIMALS WITH BACTERIA ISSUES!
This Dynarex Providone Iodine is the best iodine I have ever tried and it is very inexpensive compared to the rip off prices that some sellers are asking online and the brick stores for less concentration (7%) and less ounces. This is a great product for our needs as you can read below. Anti-bacterial and fungal invasions on Pets: I used this (it is 10%, not 7%) to help my dog with skin bacteria infection issues. So far, it is helping. The idea is to dilute it with water to the "colorization of dark tea" as is described by some veterinarians. So when I figured it out, I diluted it to a concentration of about 5% solution to 95% water, more or less. This means it is even weaker than the label of 10%. This stuff is concentrated. Vets say that dogs can "lick" this stuff and not get sick. However, on my little sensitive dog, he looked kind of sick and nauseated from using it and I could not tell if it was because of the smell which bothered him and made him whoosy or if it was the taste. So when I use it on him, I make sure he is bone dry of it before I let him try and lick it off. My dog is pure white and this stuff leave a mild stain on the coat but is really easy to bathe out. Usually with dog skin diseases, they should be bathed every day or every other day for a few weeks (I use Zymox enzyme shampoo for now) to make sure the disease doesn't come back so the stain won't be a big deal anyway. The coat will eventually turn to normal. Unlike a horse, a dog's skin will not burn with this if used in the proper dilution. I also found it is useful for the obvious cuts and wounds and stuff, for sanitizing sissors, and all kinds of pet stuff as well as people stuff. If you have farm animals or horses, and they get scratches or some kind of bacteria infection on them, do NOT use this full strength out of the bottle. This is a concentrated amount and is not a scrub. For horses, use a good microbial horse shampoo in a pale of water and then dilute this stuff down to 1%. I have seen people use this on their horses as a very diluted concentration as a microbial scrub to clean the white socks on a horse to stay white, but again, it is diluted so as not to burn the skin. Usually a microbial iodine scrub is about 5% but it can still be diluted. Any iodine directly on a horse's coat could burn and blister the skin! There are providone iodine "shampoos" and surgical scrubs but these too you have to be careful with on horses. When dealing with thrush or disease of the bottom foot of the horses foot, where the hard frog, sole, and wall is, this can be used full strength and directly into the sole and cracks on the bottom side of the hoof. Be careful of the heel bulbs and avoid the soft area of the cornet band where the hoof turns into hair. These also can blister. This item has many uses and I use it to sanitize cooking equipment or sissors made especially for cutting foods. It does appear to stain sinks and counter tops for a while but it fades or is easy to remove if cleaned up right away.

Better than peroxide for me
Nearly took off the end of my thumb about a week and a half ago when my pickaxe slid down the handle onto it. Went to the emergency room to have it cared for and noticed them using a similar product to soak to soften scabs before minor surgery (mostly just to cut off the nail and dead skin and glue the wound together). It was nasty enough that the triage nurse shuttered at the sight of it. Anyway, I was told to soak daily so I figured I should get some of what they were using. Couldn't find any locally, so ordered on here. Took two days to deliver but man does this work well to keep a wound clean. Never had something like this heal so fast. I really did a number on my thumb but after 5 days it was healed up enough to do light work out in the shop (welding, grinding, etc) and a couple days later I was out doing heavy work and digging with the pickaxe again. Anyone who does this kind of stuff knows you can't do a damn thing without your thumb. I'd say I'm about 98% with it right now and as soon as the nail finishes growing back in it will be to top. I highly recommend having a bottle of this stuff around to soak the larger gashes in if you work with your hands like I do. It allows your body to focus on healing instead of fighting off infection. It's also incredibly gentle as well. If I got the temperature of the water right it actually helped with the pain a little it seemed.

multiple uses
To be honest i never needed this yet thank God. My rating proves i got it like promised and it wasn't damaged during shipping. It lost one star since the date on the bottle only gave me a year or two to use it. This is kept in my emergency bag/SHTF bag. I try not to touch the stuff unless it really is a SHTF scenario (look it up if your not sure the meaning) any way it has many uses besides treating wounds you can also add a few drops into water to purify and bacteria not heavy metals but will kill living germs. (Only do this in emergency life or death cases and for no more than a few weeks to one month if you can become studys show after several weeks or a month it causes liver damage) great for wounds but if you look into this it has several uses. To be honest I think mine is about expired now but I am gonna wait a few years before purchasing it again. Maybe you can get a few years past the date...i hope. Im guessing on this part don't take my word for it. Again i never needed to use this so my rating is only on the above part. Im guessing from what i looked up this is a good product for cleaning wounds but just never tried it.

You really can't rate an Iodine product terribly. I make sure to use this when my horse injures herself and needs medical attention.
