Q: How close to the bottom of the sump basin will it extract water?

It will leave approximately 1/2" of water in the sump pit - equal to the height of the intake ports on the bottom of each pump - until it starts sucking air BUT the automatic switch will stop the pump (any sump pump) prior to that level, to prevent pump running "dry". Thus, the amount of water remaining in the sump pump will be closer to 3/4" to 1" depth which is "normal" for ANY automatic sump pump that uses a vertical switch. Sump pumps with pendant style switches will typically leave much more water per cycle.

Q: how many feet of head does it get?

I own two of these for basement sump purposes. Each one pumps up 7 feet prior to water evacuation. Fast, efficient, quiet -- I am super pleased. Should have installed this model years ago.

Q: does this pump have a weep hole?

Yes. You do NOT need to have a weep hole in the plumbing too. The weep hole in the pump does all you need.

Q: The entire float just came up and out! Was in use for about 15 minutes! Defective! Is this a bad brand?
