Needs improvement
I did a lot of research before selecting this product based on reviews. I had high hopes for it after trying various options but unfortunately, it only works well when the audible alarm is activated. The problem is that it is quite loud and annoys me and the neighbors at night. Since animals have sensitive hearing, there should be an adjustable volume, e.g., low, medium, and high. I believe that this additional feature would make this more usable. If you don't mind putting up with the noise, it does the job. The flashing lights and ultrasound that only animals supposedly hear are not enough to keep them away.Disclaimer: I did not receive this product for free or at a discounted price like some of the other reviewers. I have no idea what the upgraded version includes, since the manufacturer does not spell out how it compares to the previous offering other than "upgraded components and parts for top performance." I don't know if it's a gimmick or if the product was actually enhanced.

Does not work
We purchased two of these to keep neighborhood cats from sneakily entering our yard. They have been eating the chipmunks that live in our yard, the birds I feed, and defecating wherever they please. Since we needed to locate the "eliminators" in an area where it was not conducive to plugging them in, we needed to put 2 9volt batteries in, which was a feat in itself. The stakes that are supplied are okay if nothing ever knocks them. We had wild turkeys enter our yard and when they got scared off, they knocked one of the "eliminators" over and the plastic that joins the stakes together broke. So much for the "eliminator" keeping the turkeys out of my yard. We set one of the products to the "alarm" setting which would sound an alarm and flash lights. It seemed like it might be a good idea, until it kept going off for no reason. Was it the breeze? Since we needed to use batteries to operate them, we couldn't have the alarm mode going off continuously; it would use up the battery, so back to another mode. This particular "eliminator" proved to render itself useless by about the 4th day. Batteries died? Hard to say. Regardless, I had to chase the neighbor's cat out of my yard 2-3 times while I had these products in my yard. The cat had to walk right past at least one particular "eliminator" to get where it was located. My personal opinion is that if you could plug this item in and use it on a porch or similar area and use the alarm mode, it may scare off an animal with the alarm and flashing light. Unfortunately, these EXPENSIVE products were of no help to me, when I really have tried every avenue possible, and so wanted an answer to my problem.

Take it from a home gardner, do not waste your money
I would not recommend this product. I have a home garden and the deer were coming to have nightly snacks. The deer continue to come back, they not only NOT get scared away, they just hang out in the yard. No animals are phased by this machine. Birds, chipmunks, deer, raccoon. I have had this product for 3 months. Yes, I gave this product a full 3 months before I decided to write this review. Now I am not able to have it on the first setting with the alarm because there is no volume control, it is EXTREMELY LOUD. I live in a neighborhood in burbs in IL, everyone sleeps with their windows open when it cool outside, therefore unless I want to piss my neighbors off, I can not have that setting on. I really wish this product had a volume control. Also, just like a previous review, do not buy this unless you plan to have it plugged in. I spent so much money on batteries and you will use a couple of batteries a week and not the cheap ones. Sometimes the motion sensor works, sometimes it works for no reason. I never know what this machine will do. I really wish I could return it and get my money back. I bought this to try to avoid spending money on a fence and with all the batteries, time and machine money I spent, I could of just bought a fence by now. Lesson learned. I would not recommend this product it is a waste of money. I included a picture where you can actually see the Eliminator in the picture and where the deer pulled the corn down. They ate the whole row of corn. Again, I wish I could get my money back.

Doesn't stop cats--and all the 5 star reviews are suspicious
Based on all the glowing 5-star reviews, many of which, in retrospect, I realized, were written within a couple of days of each other, I bought one of these to try to stop a cat from pooping in our yard. So far it hasn't even slowed the cat down. In fact it seems to be inviting friends, as though the "ultrasonic" and flashing lights actually constitute some kind of cat-version of a rave.I say: buyer beware. Particularly in light of all the suspicious reviews.Maybe this device stops some cats somewhere. But the 2 I actually own didn't even notice the "ultrasonic" sound (though my kids confirmed it made a noise). And all the lights do are annoy the neighbors.

Don't waste your money. Doesn't work for cats or dogs
Doesn't work as advertised. Does not scare if dogs or cats. My dogs, neighbors dogs, and neighbors cat do not even acknowledge it exists. Neighbor dog actually pisses on it, one of the behaviors I was hoping to discourage.I've owned a similar product that worked great and I'll be going back to that one. It had an adjustable dial for different types of animals as different frequencies work better for different species. Don't waste your money.
