Very light but strong.
I use this ladder commercially, so 8 hours a day (usually 10+) and tons of abuse. It is NOT as durable as a fiberglass, so if your gonna let a crew use it or whatever, probably stick to that. But for a personal work or homer ladder, this thing kicks ass. And saves me a ton of fatigue over the course of a day dragging it everywhere.I top step this thing constantly, despite manufacturer warning. The ladder is stable when on the very tip top, I've even put my entire body weight (160lbs plus 15 lb tool belt) on the paint tray, no issues. The paint tray works great as you can lean far forward and use the tray to prop your weight up a bit. Not safe, but useful. Two "negatives" :One, it comes with these little black grabbers to keep the ladder closed during shipping. I didn't realize at first and thought that one of the latches was sticking. Make sure to yank those off. Two, it didn't operate very smoothly (the latches) initially. This would likely go away after opening and closing a hundred or so times, but I just applied a dab of bearing grease to each latch and sped it up.

Great ladder.A good purchase.
From what I was reading in the reviews I thought I would be getting a piece of used dirty junk. I did receive however..... a brand new ladder. No packaging, no box or wrap just the ladder with shipping stickers stuck to it strategically so that they would not be hard to remove. I did notice maybe one or two small scratches but other than that it’s going to eventually get more scratches and “abuse” as I use it. I did notice a powdery dark dust in some places but with a swifter it all came off to show off this 5 foot gem. When I am on the top step the the ladder is very stable no wobble whatsoever. The ladders hinges are tight but they are supposed to be for structural integrity. The steps are wide and very comfortable to stand on for long periods. And I greatly appreciate the tabs near the bottom step that when the ladder is closed lock the ladder shut so that it does not accidentally open. And also the bottom of the legs have big pieces of rubber so that it doesn’t scratch your floors. The shelf is also very strong I tested it by putting a 10lb weight on it overnight and it did nothing to it. I cant believe I only paid the listed Amazon price for this ladder! A comparable ladder at Home Depot would have been $20.00 to $30.00 more I checked, and I would have had to lug it home. In closing I guess I lucked out on this purchase. Thank you, Amazon.

Useful and convenient household ladder
I bought the 6' size Feb 2019, received a new ladder, and like it very much. I'm a large and older woman. I use it both indoors and out and for me it's just the right combination of lightweight portability with adequate height for the majority of my home-maintenance needs. It's now August 2019, and the ladder is in excellent, nearly-new condition. I do recommend a gentle touch when flexing the aluminum hinge and always make sure the hinge is locked open before mounting the ladder.

Great ladder, but it was filthy
The ladder is surprisingly sturdy given how light it is. I bet it would hold more than the 225 pounds it is rated at. It is a bit stiff when you open it and lock it into place, but I expect it will loosen up over time. I really like the shelf, which will come in handy when I am using the ladder on painting projects. I rated this four stars which really should be five stars for the ladder itself and three stars for the condition upon arrival. It was not damaged, but completely covered in a oily, black film of dirt. I had to take it outside and clean the tops, bottoms and sides of every step, the uprights, the shelf and top. I used up about ten sheets of paper towel and a lot of spray on cleaner getting it to the point where my hands weren't turned black every time I touched it. It is really a shame because when you buy something that is new, it should be squeaky clean not filthy. It will never have the feeling of a new product as a result. Either the factory or the distributer is doing a terrible job on cleanliness.

Light and stable . . .
I wanted that as well as a shelf. Many of the others have only stabilizing bars. They are good, but if you are doing a repair - even with only a screwdriver and a lightbulb - it's nice to have something stable to use as a tool rest. Maybe a little expensive, but the quality is excellent. We hang it on a "semi" decorative hook on the landing down to the finished basement. As light as it is, that isn't a problem, and it hangs flat. Good product, it met every need, and the service was excellent.

The ultimate step ladder
This is basically the ultimate small step ladder. It's perfect for reaching ceilings and what not. I like it better than the 2' ladders because you can stand on the 2' step and easily reach the ceiling and still have the top "step" to lean against with your shins. And while it's not recommend to use the top step, it's very sturdy and would easily hold the rated 225lbs IF someone chose to take such a risk and stand on it! Anyways, it's a good price for a nice little ladder. If you've read this far, you should just buy it now and get back to work!

Quality product! An excellent choice - recommended!
Louisville, Werner and DeWalt ladders were three of the major brands I either previously owned or had seen in big box stores. All are good and have similar qualities.I chose the Louisville for several reasons:1. - Quality assembly2 - lightweight and easy to move and store3 - solid locking mechanism when in use4 - good valueIf you find this review useful, please let Amazon and me know by clicking the helpful button below!John J. Love it
I have a very heavy cumbersome 8ft ladder from Louisville but is too much to carry 3 flights up I ordered this one and am able to do things within a 9 ft reach but 8 ft easily. It's SUPER lightweight, so I LOVE IT! You do have to be careful because it doesn't have the weight of a big ladder to keep you as steady. Using with caution but worth it! It's definitely NOT flimsy! Only thing I was very surprised about was that it didn't come in a box, it came as is.
