Dudes , these reels are LEGIT!! Spooled up 6lbs braid and 5 lbs leader. Cast1/16 oz. A mile! Ultra light extreme enjoyment!!I have 2 - 500 and 2-1000 both drags are super smooth and feathery! I find one on 6’ ultra light rod and the 1000 on a 6’6” rod!No wind knots on either reel! These have to of been designed for braid!!Awesome value and Awesome reels!!

Great reel! Does not disappoint!
This is an amazing reel. I noticed the price and decided to give it a try. I went for the 3000 version.I loaded it with 15lb braid on a 6ft6in rod and took it out kayak fishing. After only a few casts I switched it for my go to rig, which is a Pflueger President on the same 6ft6in rod. The Pflueger casts a mile with 15lb braid, the KastKing was just so-so and just didn't cast as far as the Pflueger did using the same lure.I really wanted to like this reel so I decided to give it another go, but with 10lb braid to a 10lb flourocarbon leader on the same rod. What a huge difference- this thing casts soooooooo far, is super smooth, and is so quiet. It has become my main rig and has been fantastic. Even casting into the wind with a small rooster tail, this thing just flew, and with a slightly larger lure it went even further. The Pros:Wow, this reel looks really good and is super light.casts a mile, seems to love the 10lb braid. It is just so smooth. The cons:Although it didn't cast as far with the 15lb braid as my Pflueger did, it really wasn't that bad so I am going to say that I don't see any cons to this reel. The price: This was in a perfect price point and certainly didn't break the bank. I got it with a 20% off deal and you just can't beat that at all.Overall: This was such a good reel I decided to buy another one (the Spartacus II- you can read my review on that one as well) and I think I have become a KastKing fan so far. Now if the darn fish would just bite...

Love it!
This is a fantastic reel! I own a a couple other KastKing reels and products, as well as a few Shimano reels, but this reel outshines them all. Extremely smooth drag, capable of adjusting in small increments. And the green color is awesome, it matches my Gloomis rod really well. I use it for everything, from jigging for Salmon in 150ft of saltwater, to casting 50-100ft for trout or bass in freshwater. I highly recommend purchasing this reel

4000 is about the same as 2500
I bought the 1000 and the 4000. I like them both very much for the quality and thicker bail wire. Overall I really enjoy the way this reel feels. no slack in the bail. good drag. I would recommend this product with the following note about the 4000 size. The 1000 was suited perfectly for a light weight trout rod and I didn't think twice to order the 4000 for another light salt project rod. I was surprised to see that the 4000 came in about the same size as other 2500 series reels I already have and was trying to upgrade from. I still like this reel and will use it to replace my 2500. I still need a bigger reel for my project rod.

Highly quality and reliable!
Long overdue review. Had this reel for over a year and it has been the best purchase of my life. Literally taken it everywhere and it has handled amazing. The reel for sure punches above its weight class, from big bass in Texas, to trout in Canada, to 30-40LB Amber Jacket in Florida. It’s compact for traveling but a beast on the water

Just be well aware of what you need and what you're buying.
This is fine for what it is, an inexpensive lightweight shallow spool 1000.The weight is actually impressive. I mean the capability, not the literal weight, which is very light. But I'd argue the drag is fine for 95% of ANY bass fishing, much less finesse fishing, which it easily handles. Now the bad parts. The spool is woefully small and shallow. With a measly 8lb flouro I doubt it can hold 50yd. You need to go light braid to have enough line to be versatile at all.I tried spooling more, because it does say it should be able to handle it. But I met excessive tangling, including severe knots under the spool around the center post, as other reviewers have mentioned. After trimming all the knots out and being left with a max capability of around 50yd, I find it's incredibly difficult to get any distance on a cast.Basically if you spool it to the specifications printed right on it, you'll 100% get knots, then you trim and you go straight to not spooled enough to the point where you can't cast worth a darn. And even if you do, you only have 50y or so to work with.So if you're like me and wanted a lightweight reel that could do it all, or "do it most", this is probably not the right choice. If you have a very specific finesse setup in mind it might be awesome. And finally, as I've seen with KastKing products in the past, the quality is not quite up to par. Very plasticky. Sure it might be equal or slightly better than the major brands at the same price. But I certainly wouldn't say it's tremendous value as far as build quality goes.Still, I'll give it 5 stars because people should do their research and know what they're buying. Although, it might not last. The last KastKing I bought was a Megatron that was completely destroyed and returned after a week or so. We'll see!
