I bought this as a gift for my dinosaur loving niece. She loves rocks and crystals so this seemed like the perfet combination. She absolutely loved it and already grew a cute dino crystal. Would buy again!

The liquid stains your hands, need gloves and leaks from the dinosaur egg when waiting for the crystalisation. When it is time to remove the crystals, they are like razor blades and sharp cutting through skin like glass. I would not recommend this for adults let alone children.

A bit fiddley and messy.

My son is a huge dinosaur fan, so this stegosaurus growing kit was a no brainer for a birthday present. It has been an enormous hit.The kit itself comes well boxed and includes a measuring cup, a bar for stirring the crystals in the water, a dinosaur egg, dinosaur, 2 seed crystals and 3 crystal powders.There is a fair bit of work involved in the set up of this. However, as an avid science fan, my 11 year-old daughter was happy to help, meaning that this was a good activity to keep them both occupied. Boiling water is also required, so adult supervision Is needed.You mix up the crystal powder with boiling water and then once dissolved, you pour it into the egg, where you leave it for 4-7 days until it forms a crystal. As you only make one colour of crystal powder at a time, this kit lasts several weeks while you create all the varying colours.My children loved both making the crystals as well as seeing the final result. A really great STEM kit for young scientists, especially if they have an added love of dinosaurs.Highly recommend.Thanks for reading my review. I hope you found it helpful.
