Not a programmer? Start with this book.
I have been trying to learn Unity for about 8 months. This is where I should have started 8 months ago. If you have no experience with coding then this is the book for you. 99% of Unity tutorials and books assume you are coming from a coding background and quickly tell you what code to write and don't bother to explain it. This is the first book that I have found that actually teaches you C# as it teaches you Unity. I really cannot recommend this book enough if you are coming to Unity from really any background other than computer science. I would pair this book with "Foundations of Programming: Fundamentals" by Simon Allardice on lynda and also Unity's tutorial "Roll-a-ball" for a complete beginners course.

Is niiiiice
This book is amazing for someone who is starting out and has no experience with Unity. Going through the C# syntax for the first half of the book was extremely helpful as even looking at it was daunting. However, in chapter 11, a vital piece of code was left out (constructing the ground) which made me believe I did something wrong. After troubleshooting and reading, in the end, it made me understand coding more than what I knew before and figured out in the following pages, the code was in the code example page (so the issue was resolved). However towards the end, ch12 and 13, there are errors while playing the game. I deleted the code and followed the examples given chapter by chapter again, but the error still persists. Still, great book to start out with!

Fast-paced and sort of strait to the point. I needed this one for a class, not because I necessarily wanted to read it, but it was decent overall.

Great Book to learn c#
Great book to learn the foundation in c# and build a 2d game in unity. I still go back to this book when I need to refresh my memory about something in small detail.

Great start to create full games!
I loved this book, this author has made a great work desmystifying C# programming language in Unity 5.x, the book start from the feeling that the most of beginner's in game development have at the first time they start to play with the Unity Editor, you have learned a bit of the interface, watched few tutorials, but none of your objects move or hit, that is very boring, but you probably already know that to achieve what you need, you will have to learn how to program a few scripts, but this can scary you because most of us have in mind that programming is a very hard ability to develop and when you read that all have been documented, you become divided in two feelings again, this is what you have to understand but this could be even scary, because the documentation is to big and most of the terms used are new to us, even the Unity documentation be one of the most user friendly API's in game development area. This book will teach you the right way to start programming in C#, the most important topics to you start creating your in game scripts, he will teach you how to search on documentation, he also shows the most used methods, to learn more about C# itself, how to ask in Unity forums and I have to say that this is very important for every developer, after the basics, he shows how to plan a game, most important the project possible to understand and develop from beginning to the end, after planing, he will show the flow of work in unity, implementing the game features, how to programming the project of your first game in Unity, the game could seem to be simple but, is a kind of game that show you game features that most of the games need such as animated characters, level management, collectables, UI's and score saving. I have to say that this book is awesome, because this is so fast reading, you start to understanding C# programming and become proficient so fast to able to achieve whatever result you want, this is powerful this is a nice start for every people who want to develop games even if you never developed a game before, with this book beginning to C# scripting will become easy, after read this book you will know how to turn you ideas in projects and better, you will know how to turn them in reality, and if your idea is so complex that you cannot achieve, you will know where to learn more deeply and/or ask for help!
