important book but lost in an ocean of filler.
I recommend this book. The science here is critical. I do feel like I had to push through it at times, because finding the essential takes work with a book that seems to be striving to meet a minimal page requirements. I was not reading this book for casual pleasure, but to desperately learn what I needed to consider while raising my children. At times I got frustrated because I felt it was repetitive or just filler. In short I think this book is essential, but could of been one third the length.

Excellent Book-Delivery instructions not followed
Excellent book. So very important. My only issue is not following delivery instructions. Almost always my instructions are followed by Amazon's drivers. I've had a couple of misplaced deliveries recently. With porch theft high these days in my area, I wanna advise Amazon supervisors a heads-up.

Integrated parenting and the research to prove it
Bravo, Dr.Miller for addressing through your research just how important a spiritual element in a child's life can inform and enhance his/her overall well being and "success." There is no question that cultivating and/acknowledging this aspect within ourselves and our children leads to a more integrated child who does not simply place his/her value or worth on external successes but has the ability to tap into their inner spiritual sense of self to tackle obstacles that undoubtably get in the way. We are already comfortable with the benefits of integrated medicine as a way to enhance health, now it's time for a more integrated approach to parenting. Dr. Miller has shown through her scientific research at Columbia that parents who support the spiritual lives of their children raise healthier, happier, and emotionally resilient kids who eventually become healthier, happier and more balanced adults.

Much needed for parents especially in this time of evolution!
This book is so refreshing to read- I feel most parents would connect and feel a sense of guidance which coincides with their inner compass.

A great read for any parent!
I loved this book. I have purchased many copies to give to friends and just ordered another last week to give to some new parents. I wish I had had this book from the moment my kids were born! The book is a great look through a scientific lens at the importance of nurturing spirituality in our children. I am convinced that spirituality does help children grow into healthy adults. This book is a helpful guide to keeping our kids on the right path through nurturing their spirituality (and helping ourselves as parents in the process).

I highly recommend this book.
I have only read about 150 pages, but I love it already. I am a Grandmother, and a very Spiritual person. A lot of this is what I have believed for a long time, but to see that they are finding that they can connect religion and spiritual beliefs to science is wonderful. I believe all parents and grandparents should read this book. It is so important to answer children with questions about spirituality or religion. As you will see it could affect them throughout life. This is a book that is hard to put down and I highly recommend it. I will be looking for more books written by Lisa J. Miller.

A Marvelous Handbook for the Modern-Day Parent
As the parent of an 8 and almost 10-year-old, I found Lisa Miller's book to be most educational in helping me to understand the natural spiritual trajectory of children from toddlerhood into young adulthood. Her research findings, intuitive mother's heart, and professionalism as an educator and clinical practitioner, shine through compellingly. I consider 'The Spiritual Child' to be a landmark handbook for parents who strive to support the spiritual growth and ongoing development of their children - particularly (as she notes) in the fast-paced, over-scheduled, digital age we live in. This book is filled with wisdom, love, compassion, and scientific credibility. I highly recommend it . .

Important book if you're in the field of children's spirituality
I kept reading mentions of this book in articles and wondering why I'd never come across it very much in the UK. This is such a big book, in size and in what it's saying- the importance of the first decade and how to encourage our children to be themselves and explore the world, enabling them to manage the second decade more easily. Take a look at Lisa on YouTube is you need convincing- so good to read of all the research being done in the field in the rest of the world. It took me several months to get through the book, but it was time well spent.

Thoughtful exploration.
This is a thoughtful treatise on a concern for what is called the spiritual element in people in atheistic times in our western culture. Many consider there to be a sense of emptiness that begs for reconciliation with basic questions not easily answered by scienceor politics. This book takes a look at this dimension of existence in the young. Very interesting observations are thought provoking.I enjoyed it.

Very poor
The book is too repetitive to be interesting..You don't get any insight while reading the book..However author used the catchy title, which seems very deceptive..
