Seems a good, simple to use phone
Bought for my 78 year old dad after his old phone ‘died’. With the very early stages of dementia I didn’t want something too taxing for him and this seems to fit the bill.Small but with a clear and bright phone display you can basically just plug it in and play. This is a good thing because like others have said, the instruction booklet is not the easiest thing to follow and seems to complicate matters unnecessarily. However once you work out which button to press on the handset, programming the phone is easy!Another feature I liked was the in phone name/number directory. On most phones these days you need to subscribe to a ‘caller ID’ system to get a name and number on the handset display; not with this one though! Any name and number stored shows clearly when the phone rings which is great for the antisocial and for my dad who now gets nervous if he doesn’t recognise a number.Answer machine is also a doddle. You can set parameters easily like the number of rings before it goes to answer machine; from immediately to 30 rings. Listening to and erasing the messages is easy too and can be done from the handset or the base. The only design fault I can see (and it isn’t much of one) is that the plug attachment in the base isn’t a sharp contact and seems very lose when pushed in. There is a moulded piece of plastic next to it that attempts to hold it in place so all we can do is see if it works. So far it seems to tick all the boxes for a well priced, quality, simple to use phone and answer machine. If it does the job you want why pay more? And on a final note to the manufacturer Gigaset; sort that instruction manual out!

Great Item would recommend.
Great service and really good quality phone set. Easy to set up. Love the fact when you lift the handset out of the station, t answers straight away without pressing any buttons. Handset is very sensitive, so if you have it in your pocket, you can easily turn on the handset without knowing (engaged to your callers)I would recommend this item. Pricing is perfect.

Plug and play
The market for home telephones is large and there is plenty which is difficult to set up with two handsets or falls short with sound or reception being poor. This Gigaset model gladly avoids these many issues by remaining simplistic and highly functional. The phone comes with a speakerphone base and hands-free feature to talk and listen like a mobile phone on speaker, all at an amazingly low price. This model comes with two handsets, a that are super easy to pair and work perfectly for downstairs and upstairs access. The instructions are as easy as plugging in each device and setting them to each to their bases. The pairing is automatic and now will ring on both ends when there is an incoming call. These phones have a large, bright orange and clear display, making this extremely helpful for elderly users. Contacts can be created and saved so the next time someone has their name promptly shows. Likewise, date, time and auto answering can be set for full functionality. In contrast to the quietness of many home phones I've used over the years, this Gigaset model does a better job of being loud and clear when ringing and taking. The volume can be altered but anything below maximum sounds too quiet. If wanted, the original ringtone can be changed to your suiting with a good number of tones provided. Most importantly, calls are clear and loud. This is made clear when using the hands-free function. Just a press on the flashing green telephone button during a call instantly enables you to begin taking and listening hands-free which allowed me to continue with a lot of chores!I've barely used the speakerphone base but have already got the chance to see how voicemails become conveniently stored and playable through this. There is no 'additional costs' or anything extra to set up, the base simply works from the get-go. There maximum storage of 30 voicemails which is more than plenty. Voicemails can be easily deleted with the X button to make room for more.In all, a highly functional handset kit which includes all the necessary features and visibility for all ages to enjoy using.

Clear but quiet earpiece.
Instructions to set up were quite poor. Just a sheet of paper with unclear symbols. I did struggle a couple of times even though some reviews said it was easy to set up! The handset earpiece is quite quiet even on loudest settings, but although quiet it is very clear. It is much louder on handsfree. The answerphone is loud and clear. It was very straightforward sending the directory list to second handset, but the numbers have to be entered manually on the first handset which is a bit of a task! However, overall, I am pleased with the phones and would have given a higher scoring if a setting up manual had been enclosed, rather than having to look up on the internet .

Works as it should.
I bought this for my Dad who finds it ok to use manually which suits him fine. He is not of the digital generation and finds the stored numbers a bit confusing. The use and set up of its many additional features can be worked out with the online manual. The quality of the printed manual supplied with the product is poor and the illustrations of the icons is useless.Overall a good product with good sound quality at a good price.

Awful
Awful handset, so many faults with it.- I could not add any numbers or check my previously dialled numbers- It remained on Handset 2 which means it was part of a pair and even if I changed the name it remains as ‘Handset 1 2’. Which is really irritating- The sound quality is awful and I can’t hear it in the other room when on maximum, even on speakerphone it sounds like a normal phone would without being on speakerphone- The speaker crackles when you flick through the ringtone melodys- When the call is forwarded to answer machine you can’t answer it doesn’t work but should as, as I said I’ve owned these handsets before
