Optimized Ashwagandha - Stress Management Supplement for a Healthy Stress Response, Focus, Memory, Stress Relief - Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, 60 Capsules

As a man in my early 70s, I struggle to get good quality sleep. Ashwagandha is an ancient medicinal herb classified as an adaptogen, meaning that it may help your body in managing stress and anxiety by regulating cortisol levels. In addition, it is claimed to give your brain a boost, lower blood sugar, and reduce depression and inflammation, etc. Since I suspect much of my sleep problem is due to anxiety and stress, I decided to give this a try. After a week or so of use, I believe this has helped. The effect seems to be rather subtle and although I still wake at night, I seem to resume sleep quicker. I started taking the product in the morning only and at 1/2 the recommended dose since I'm rather sensitive to any medication. I tried taking it at noon or early afternoon and this seems to have a negative affect in my sleeping. I would find it more difficult to initially go to sleep or return to sleep after waking, but by early morning I was sleeping much better and really mellowed out. Perhaps the product works in reducing stress and anxiety during the day, and as the body continues to metabolize the remaining ashwagandha in your body during the evening, it leaves you in a more relaxed state by the time you go to bed, thus allowing a person to get to sleep sooner. Maybe the reduction in stress is limited to the body's awake time and thus doesn't have the same effect while I'm asleep. My side effects, which are common, have been less stressful dreams at night and a bit of vertigo which is so slight in my case that I will gladly trade this for the positive effects I'm experiencing. I chose this Life Extension product based on the Sensoril formulation of this ashwagandha product, Life Extensions reputation of good products, and reviews from others here at Amazon. After taking this product for about 3 months, I reduced the dosage to 1/4 of the recommended dosage and am alternating this product with another brand. This seems to help with anxiety and adrenal fatigue. I will be reordering. Ashwagandha is highly recommended for adrenal fatigue, that terrible feeling of burnout that no amount of sleep seems to cure. I've yet to reap the full benefits there (it's only been a week), however, it's definitely abating my anxiety (which, I believe, is a significant contributor to fatigue). As I understand it, the primary active constituents of any form of Ashwagandha are called "withanolide glycosides." This product contains Sensoril, one of two trademarked Ashwaghanda extracts of which I'm aware (the other being KSM-66). Sensoril is by far the most potent Ashwagandha extract -- some people find it too sedating. This product contains Sensoril, a trademarked Ashwagandha extract. What you need to know: * There are two types of proprietary/trademarked Ashwagandha extracts (in addition to the mass of supplements offering full-spectrum, organic, or otherwise unbranded Ashwagandha): 1) KSM-66 and 2) Sensoril * Sensoril is by far the most potent (too potent for some people) * KSM-66 is solid. It's claim to fame is that its manufacturer tries to replicate the ratio of each active constituent. I believe Sensoril is going for the overall/net withanolide glycosides. * LEF is solid. In fact, I'd recommend searching their site as they have many helpful articles. I buy their products quite often. * This is priced very competitively. I'm basing this review on several days taking the product. As mentioned, I'm nowhere near bouncing back in terms of energy level. However, this seems to be helping with a.m. anxiety quite a bit. If you've not taken Ashwagandha before, you may wish to check out something a little less potent for starters. I tend to be fairly unresponsive to supplements, and I've just come off of a month of KSM-66 (good product).. I've received no discounts etc. for this review.

Great quality supplements from Life Extension. I trust the Life Extension brand for quality at an affordable price. The supplements are small and easy to swallow. I have been sleeping better after taking them regularly. Ashwsgandha is believed to help lower cortisol, and cortisol can disrupt your sleep.

I like this Ashwangha because it does not put me to sleep. It gives me a calm, relaxed feeling, but I don’t feel like I’m going to nod off. I can take this during the day and feel less stressed. Other forms of ashwangha made me so tired that I couldn’t function.

Life Extension is a great company. This product is very good for sleep and calming the mind. My 85 yr old mom uses this when she finds it difficult to fall asleep.
