A basic or modest knowledge of Sanskrit in conjunction with an authentic predisposition to metaphysics are definitely required as this edition has substantial contaminations of evolutionary origin. From the foreword (by a certain V. Subrahmanya Iyer) is unequivocally to be deduced that (post)modern science, which is a ΕΕ«dra creation of the lowest type, constitutes a major method for attaining to the Supreme Knowledge, and that yoga is only a moderately satisfactory one. Buddhi is said to be Reason, whilst it is the Intellect, a very different thing. Beware!

This is an Advaita Vedanta classic. It explains various Advaita Vedanta concepts for a seeker or the curious. This is a must read book for a spiritual aspirant. I strongly recommend this book.
