Works great with a mixed flock of chickens and ducks. Ducks still splash a lot out though.

Not splash resistant
This is advertised as being shaped and sized to reduce splashing and playing by the ducks. Not true. I only have four ducks and in the space of five hours they splaxhed out about a quart of water. I have it contained in a drip pan or else the coop floor would be soaked. There wasn't this much splashing with an open plastic tub.

Isn't quite what it says it is
The waterer is well built, sturdy and it convenient to fill. As for the no mess, no mud claim, this is just false advertising. My ducks made a mess out of it in a day. Don't misunderstand, it DOES reduce the mess compared to standard waterers but still makes a mess which makes the price way too high for the reduced mess. All in all it is a pretty good waterer which will REDUCE the mess but you will still have a mess. Price is just too high to justify buying this unit in the future.

It works, but that's all that's good with it
It does keep the water from freezing. It is a huge pain in the neck to clean, and to refill, especially in the cold weather when you need this. I have to unplug it, take off the water reservoir and carry both awkward peices to the hydrant to rinse our the base, then use a 3 gallon bucket to hold the reservoir and aim the water into the reservoir opening. That reservoir is so awkward, having to balance it on its tip to fill. I get wet every time cleaning and refilling this, and in the winter that's not a good thing.

Works, but ducks are just messy, so it won’t solve everything
This seems to do what it promises. However, as new duck owners, we’ve learned that ducks will make a huge mess no matter what and also that it is fine to keep the food and water outside the coop. They don’t need to have access to food and water all night. We’ve been doing this since they were four weeks old, and it’s worked fine. They will just splash water out of the whole thing very quickly. So we are also offering a big pan of water or swimming pool in the run. At least in the winter this will be a way to access water that is not frozen. If you can keep your birds with access to the outdoors during daylight hours, that is probably the best solution.

Item no cleaner than any other. Ducks still make mess with it.
We bought this for our daughter to use with her two baby ducks. As advertised, the ducks cannot make a mess or, at the least, the mess will be greatly reduced. This is not accurate. The messes about the same, but localized to one of four locations. The pressed sawdust used in their pen got just as soaked and needed to be changed just as often. When we went to return it, there was a $25 fee to do so. So, we just gave it to a friend who used it outside with their animals where the constant sloshing and mess didn't matter. But I would don't use this in an enclosed metal tank used for ducklings, as it is just as messy as competitor's units, but it is way more expensive and not worth the extra cost.

Do Not Purchase .... Stopped working in 2 days!
First time duck owners here, and first winter with them. Was looking for a freezing temperature winter water solution and was optimistic about this option based on veteran duck owning friend's recommendation. We purchased early fall while the bowl was in stock. It stayed in the box in our garage until our first freeze just a few days ago. We prepped a flat spot for it, utilized an outdoor extension cord and cord protector for power, and it stopped working within 2 days. I'm beyond disappointed and while I don't have time usually to write reviews, this time I definitely wanted to save others the trouble, hassle and roughly $100 disappointment.

Perfect for Ducks
I like that this is easy to clean and easy to refill as ducks are so messy. You just have to make sure that it is perfectly flat or the water will spill out.

Nope
Leaks EVERYWHERE if not sat totally flat. I mean everywhere. What a mess. Happened more than once, no matter what I did. Impossible to have it 100% sitting flat in a space with animals. Good intention, poorly executed. Stopped using it.
