A little noisy, but it works.
I decided to start a project which requires soldering, and didn't want to inhale solder fumes for a few hours, so I picked this up and ran it close to the work area in a well-ventilated room. This effectively sucks the fumes in from about 8" away. I imagine that in order for an extractor to work effectively from a longer distance, a MUCH higher power fan would be required. This one is just right, and worked for my purpose. It also came with extra filters, which is a plus.

After 9 months, still going strong.
I bought this with every intention of it lasting a few weeks and then upgrading to something of higher quality, but this thing has impressed me. For what it is, a PC fan with a charcoal filter, it does the job well and has been running for several hours each day for 9 months without any problems. While i certainly isn't making the air 100% safe, it definitely keeps the smoke out of my face and that's what I really needed. It's also pretty quiet all things considered and once I put on music I hardly notice it's running. If you are waiting to buy a fume extractor because you think you need to spend more, don't wait. Get this now.

Sucks the smoke outta my face...
Only thing is it's a bit loud, I have to turn my TV up quite a bit... Otherwise, great product, works like it needs too!

Using for cigarette fumes
I was tired of 2nd hand cigarette smoke fumes. This works perfectly sitting next to the ashtray. Sucks in the cigarette smoke. It even grabs 85% of the exhaled smoke too!No regrets. Worth the money. Better than any "smokeless ashtry"!It's quieter than those "household box fans". Came with extra filters. plug in cord is plenty long enough.

Cigar's friend
The media could not be loaded. This fan / filter is noticeably of high quality. I bought it to help lower cigar smoke and smell in the house. As you see, it works fabulously. It is quite loud in a white noise way.

Essential for Safe Soldering
This fume extractor is a must-have for anyone who does soldering work. The 12V fan is powerful enough to effectively remove smoke and fumes, making my workspace much safer. It's compact, easy to set up, and the filters are simple to replace. Highly recommend!

Great unit!
Overall this unit works AMAZING! I honestly cant complain about it any. It has amazing suction power to quickly and effectively remove any fumes from the work area, and even from your surroundings so you are not inhaling the fumes. It has held up for almost a year for me and still going strong. It is a decent price, and made really well. So I know whenever that day comes I need to replace this device, or even if I simply need a extra one, I know what one I will be buying. And the one I will be buying is the one this review is for! :)

Works, but expensive.
For what it is, it works well. Its an all metal frame with a strong enough fan, that pulls the fumes through the filter that at the very least keeps the stink away, but I would still leave a window open or something of that fashion to take care of other possibly volatile fumes. The big reason why its not five stars is that its too expensive for what it is in my opinion, though it dose work, its just a fan in a metal box with a cheap filter.
