Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Colors 6 Colors Set

Kuretake is a great brand. Nice metallic watercolor. Love the colors. Easy to use. Now, some of them do not mix well and has a puddle of binder sitting on top. I still use them but cannot on 2 of them as the binder does not mix well. Kuretake is great but wander why this is doing this. Sorry, sticking with the CSY Art Gallery Metallic.

Wow! If you want a gold that looks opaque and as real as any gold foil, this is a great paint for you. It is a little pricey compared to the cheaper paints I normally use on my cards but you do get what you pay for. It doesn't take much of this to accent a card to just put it over the top. The attached card shows how I combined gold metalic paper (the larger parts of gold on the sides of the sentiment) with the painted parts (the thin gold trim around the top layer and the layer under it. I also was able to easily add a touch of the gold to the thin envelope with no warping etc. It just gives it such a nice finish with very little effort and very little paint. It is the best metalic paint I have ever used and I would/will certainly buy it again. I'm not sure if you can buy the individual pots or not. I hope so because I do favor this color of gold. The other colors are just as nice; this color just matches my gold paper so well. Love it!

I am very pleased! The packaging of the product is the products overall case/cover, it is cheap but come on, the paints make up for it a lot. Especially since these are way cheaper than the FineTec and from my research, as compatible. Beautiful gold shimmery watercolors. They dry smooth and have great dimension, activating them is very quick especially the more darker tones such as the Red Gold (No.902) Personally one of my favorites! The consistency is slightly creamy, you need 50/50 of water and paint on your brush in order to get good opaque pigmentation. Make sure to clean your brush thoroughly between the lights and darks. Along with the water, if you are using regular watercolor plus these, use different jars of water unless you want shimmery colors! To be safe, I would rinse my brush under the faucet to remove the gold particles. I apologize for not having dark paper to swatch it on, but I think the dark packaging gives these paints justice if you were curious on how it would look on black paper!

These shimmering watercolors live up to their name. I've bought different sets of "metallic" colors by different brands & would say these are among the better ones. The color picks up easily (no scrubbing) and gives good coverage. On black paper the paints have a real metallic finish, rather than merely pearlescent. The colors are noticeably different, despite most of them being Gold. The price is reasonable. The only drawback is after opening the cardboard package, the loose pans inside don't have their own box or tin, but I'd still happily have these over ones in a tin that are ineffective.

Not only did I get my order like a week earlier than expected, the pans were in perfect condition and the colors were what was shown in the picture. As for the product itself, the colors are definitely pigmented and can radiant between a light shimmer and an opaque gold. I usually use them as watercolors even though they are made for calligraphy. I mix the white gold with other paints because it is so versatile and won't change other colors much but still add a nice sparkle. I will definitely buy this again once I finish this palette. This is a cheaper alternative to the Finetec Mica Watercolor palette. Hopefully, I can get those in the future.

10 stars, just love these! The pans are large (not standard large, overly large like the Kuretake Gansai Tambi palette pans are) so these will last a while. The box is cardboard and these pans will not fit in a standard large tin, I have tried several tins. The colors are so pretty! I swatched these and was blown away. You do not have to pre-wet these to get them flowing, just wet your brush and dip, these have great pigmentation. I was using on dark brown wedding envelope to add flourishing and they show up so vibrant and gorgeous. The champagne gold is my favorite color, absolutely stunning! I'm gravely afraid of my watercolor palettes developing molding, so I always let them dry before sealing them back up in the packaging. These dry very fast too.

At 1/3 oF the cost from the Finetec watercolors (i haven't tried them), I'm glad i gave these a shot, and im happy to find my own container top put these in, as they do come in a little box that does have a glossy surface, but I just don't think it would last very long. I can't compare quality, but i can tell you, that this Hippie Artist is 100% satisfied with these so sooooo pretty shimmery watercolors. These can all be actually quite opaque if you load enough onto your brush. They also can be just the faintest if shimmer. Also all 6 pans are different than the 3 that come in the kuratake 36 count watercolors. So happy with my purchase, i would/will purchase again, I'd 100% give these as a gift, & I highly recommend them to my friends and family, and you of course.

Nice metallic colors! Overall, I’m very satisfied with the paint set. I was debating on whether to buy these Kuretake paints or the Finetec ones but ended up with these. I don’t do a lot of watercolor painting regularly, so I thought these Kuretake ones would be the most bang for my buck. All of the pans are super pretty, but I did notice that some of the golds would need more than one layer of paint depending on what you are going for in your piece (so I took off 1 star). I’m not complaining though. At this price, I think the quality is pretty good for what I paid for.

In addition to the Starry set I also have the Pearl colours - both are absolutely stunning. I mix them with water and use them as ink for dip pen calligraphy. The colours are really well pigmented and the finished result looks and feels like really good quality metallic embossing. They are definitely worth the price.

One of the best quality watercolour paints I have ever used. The sparkle and depth of colour is fabulous and so very beautiful too! Well worth the money and I have no problem recommending them.

I love these paints. They are very well pigmented and beautiful shades of metallic. I highly recommend - after trying numerous gold watercolours, these are my favourite.

These paints are Fabulous Rich & Cream gives a lovely gold line t which stands out when I outline & can also use as a shimmery wash when I thin the paint out also I can add a touch to the water so everytime I dip my brush it adds a little shimmer to my every colour I use. Highly recommend.
