The Bunny Lover's Complete Guide To House Rabbits: The Ultimate Handbook for Successfully Living Indoors with a Pet Rabbit

Did you know that Carrots are very unhealthy for your rabbit?
I didnt either. In fact rabbits dont even need to eat pellets, they need plenty of fresh hay and veggies.. Did you also know that with proper care your rabbit can live upwards of 10-15 years! That is alot longer than the 3-4 I typically heard growing up as a kid. Stephan (aka THE Bunnyguy) put together this book to help Rabbit owners wordlwide learn how to properly care for, house, feed, and be best bunny friends with your indoor Lagomorph. This book was written after the author learned, the hard way, that common and popular rabbit "care" practices are in fact very unhealthy, and often lethal to your fragile little bun.I simply cannot say enough good things about this book. I purchased it for my wife's birthday to help us better understand our beloved Mini Rex Ziggy. I learned an abundance of very important facts about proper feeding and housing care. I also learned that 90% of the products and "treats" readily available at the pet stores are very harmful to your rabbits health! You simply cannot pass this book up, it will change the way you think about rabbits. (as silly as that sounds) The book covers behavior, bonding, socialization, potty training, house "bunny" proofing, common illnesses, safe foods, nail trimming, grooming, handling, etc etc.. The author conveys everything in a very easy to read manner, and has a lot of fun doing so. I think one of the most important topics this book conveys is the mis-informed public. The Bunnyguy brings to light all of the horrible trends in rabbit owners, and pet stores worldwide. Read this book, tell your friends, and help educate rabbit owners everywhere.

Taught me about many rabbit behaviors
A rabbit is truly an individual. They each have their own unique personalties. I see so many of their behaviors mirrored in the book. They show their love for each other and me every day. While my two have essentially the run of the house and porch, at night they always sleep in my room on the carpet at the foot of the bed. During a wellness check at the vet, the staff brought to my attention how badly Bandit, the girl, was shaking. I said I would hold her. I wrapped my arms around her like a baby. She laid her head on my chest with my face on hers and went to sleep. The vet was amazed. Then, it was Erik's turn. He started to shake very badly on the examination table. I also held him like a baby. Then, on the table, he reached out both front paws to me. I held one in each hand and then he was OK. The vet remarked that he had seen this very close bonding in dogs, very rarely cats and never with a rabbit. He told me that they love me very much and are very tightly bonded to me. One story: Bandit my girl got herself electrocuted behind the plasma TV and Bose system. I heard the UPS make a sound I have never heard before. I was out of my chair immediately and ran to shut it off. There is a two second delay. Bandit collapsed on the floor. When I picked her up, she was not breathing, nor conscious. Her mate Erik was frantic. He was standing on his back feet with his paws just above my knees reaching up for her. I sat down on the floor and he jumped into my lap and started to groom her, which was all he knew how to do. She had a lot of electricity pass through her small body. I put my mouth over her nose and mouth and began CPR as for an infant. I had the training, just not on a rabbit. I gently pushed down with both hands on her small chest. After ten or so breaths she started to breathe on her own. After a few minutes, she wanted to turn her belly down, but was too weak. I helped her turn over and she laid in my lap for about ten minutes. Erik never stopped grooming and I began to also groom her. Then she got up and moved away from the A/V system, never again to return even near it. Bandit is OK today. I believe that God helped bring her back to Erik and me because He realized how important her life was to us.

Pet Rabbit, Read this book first!
If you have a pet rabbit, you should read this! If you are even thinking about getting one, please read this first. As a bunny owner, this can be a very emotional read. The diet and housing of your rabbit is very important. Rabbits are high maintenance creatures best kept indoors with much attention paid to their eating & pooping habits. They chew on things by nature, always. Some of them can be aggressive and require much work and patience to get along with. Make sure you spay or neuter your pet for this reason and other health issues. Only take our rabbit to a vet that specializes in exotic animals & rabbits, they need special anesthetics. Rabbits can live a long time if properly cared for but can be more insane than you might imagine. It can take time to meet your fuzzy friend on it's terms, but eventually all works out. This book is informational and shows you the sort of mistakes that are often made. The house rabbit society is another excellent resource.

Wealth of information.
This book is packed with important information about keeping rabbits as pets (rather than as meat or fur sources). As such, it focuses on the aspects of care that will keep the bunny healthy and happy and maximize the opportunities for interaction and bonding. The information is provided in a conversational style that is very easy to read. The depth of information is sufficient for a pet owner with a good, specialty veterinarian available as recommended by the author. Some of the information is slightly dated and some of the presentation comes off as opinionated, probably because of the tension between the conflicting goals of the owner of a pet house rabbit versus those of the more typical animal husbandry practitioner. The book fit my needs very nicely and I highly recommend it.

This is a great book! Very informative.
I am giving this book 5 stars because of the passion and love The Bunny Guy has for his pets and those that are in shelters. He explains all through the book about how to handle rabbits, how to bunny proof your home, how to socialize with your rabbit and take care of their daily needs. He also goes into great detail on why a pet bunny is not for everybody and one should look at all aspects of bringing a bunny into your home prior to doing so. By reading this book, I am now better prepared to take care of my two new family members. They will be happy and have already added hours of joy to my life. I too am now a Bunny slave!

Happy house rabbits
I love this book, I have learned about my bunny's even better. I'm more confident. The bunny guy loves his rabbits, I love his bunny's to. He dose not rap everything in cotton, he is straight to the point, are you a good rabbit slave or not. I like how he tells people in his book that rabbits are hard work, but it pays off, just to see a binky. You must be willing to have a forever rabbit in your home, for many years. The only thing I have to say is that in the UK there is a vaccination for myxomatosis. I have just been to my vet, to get my bunny's Gino his yearly jab. I don't know why the bunny guys thinks it dose not exsist.

essential reading for the bunny lover
This book clearly provides the reader with all the essential information to ensure that your treasured pet receives the care and attention it needs and deserves. Even those who have cared for a rabbit before will have the opportunity to further their knowledge. It is written with great warmth and humour. The writer also highlights his own personal mistakes made over the years so that you can avoid them. It is very easy to read and has helped our family form a strong bond with our new rescue rabbit and the reassurance that we are not killing him with kindness. Rabbits are very social animals and are so sad and lonely when kept in a hutch at the bottom of the garden. Bring your rabbit indoors and reap the rewards.
