PENGUIN In Montmartre: Picasso, Matisse and Modernism in Paris, 1900-1910

Easy read
I know very little about art and I've never been to Paris but I find this book to be very accessible. My lack of knowledge doesn't affect my enjoyment of this fascinating read but I suspect a visit to "the hillside" would help put the story into context. Sue Roe doesn't look down upon her readers. No pretentious showing off here. Everyone is welcome and the likes of me learn something on every page.
