Quality optics, view, feel and price
The Athlon Optics 8x42 Midas UHD binos are precisely what I was trying to find !! I had used Bausch and Lomb 7x42 for 15 years, and they were quite adequate, smaller in size as well as viewing quality, but still good enough for surf trips, wildlife viewing, etc., but the Athlons are terrific !! Bigger, but the quality is so improved over the B&Ls ! B&L sold their bino business to Bushnell a few years ago. I tried the Bushnells, and much prefer the Athlons, due to the single image, instead of the back and forth with the two tubes. Just outstanding clarity and quality with the Athlons !! The reviews I read for the Athlons explained a lot in technical terms by reviewers who know their stuff !! Thanks to all of them !!

Great binoculars. They rival far more expensive ones.
I've had these for about 2 months now and they experience everyday use. They are great for birding. These were an upgrade from my beginning pair of nikon binoculars and the difference is really significant. I'd say you can't go wrong with these. My only complaint is that the lense caps pop off very easily. This is especially troublesome if you're bushing it, in water, or it's raining. They feel good in your hands, aren't too heavy, and are durable through normal drops or bumping into things. The image you get through these is really great.

I'm not the only one thinking these are the best binoculars you can buy
Outstanding image quality, and yet at a remarkable price for such remarkable quality. The lens coatings enhance contrast of distant objects and dramatically reduce atmospheric haze. Highly recommend.

Fantastic binoculars! Light, bright, and sharp. Easy to focus.
I got this for bird watching but have also enjoyed using it for viewing the recent big full moon. I could clearly see lunar mountain and crater edges in sharp detail. Incredible to have such quality in binoculars that are also light enough to take hiking and bird watching. Highly recommended!

Great clear magnification.
These binoculars are very well made and provide amazing, clear magnification. I whole heartedly recommend them. A bit pricey but well worth it.

Clear Optics, But Slight Black Borders at Times
These binoculars offer crystal-clear views with impressive sharpness and brightness. The ED glass really enhances the clarity, making them great for birdwatching and outdoor use. They feel well-built and comfortable to hold, and the focus adjustment is smooth and precise. However, I occasionally notice a black border in my field of view. It might be due to my positioning or the way I’m using them, but it can be a bit distracting at times. Adjusting the eye relief and interpupillary distance helps reduce the issue.Overall, they’re a fantastic pair of binoculars with excellent optics—just be mindful of getting the positioning right for the best experience!

Absurd bang-for-buck optics.
I was skeptical of all the glowing reviews; this is a real review, I paid with my own money. Also - 10 min after placing my order I found a screaming deal on Athlon's top of the line bins for not much more money... and they are made in japan. So I intended to send the Midas back, tell them I made a mistake. Then I made the mistake of opening the package and taking a look. My god - the clarity was something else! I've always had mediocre-at-best binoculars, and felt that my naked eye did a better job.. why bother with a small zoom when it looks like garbage and causes rapid eye fatigue? I also didn't trust that Chinese manufacturing could match Japanese optics quality. Well things have really changed in the last 5 years. I was prepared to spend $500 on bins that weren't toys, and I reluctantly started with these with the idea that I would be extraordinarily picky and just keep sending back if they didn't match the lore. I am blown away by the optical quality... not just "for the price" but in general. How do these things get better? I struggle to find anything wrong with the image. Colors are exactly the same, no fringing, absurd detail and focus. The build quality is top-notch too. I tried the monarch 5 a few years ago and I wasn't impressed, especially with the dull colors. I kind of think Athlon isn't doing itself any favors with the low price - it makes people assume they are "toy-grade". These should probably be closer to the $400-$500 range. I am not sending them back, but now I am looking at another pair of higher power bins, and will look at Athlon first, as now I can trust them.

Fantastic binoculars!
These were a gift for my husband. We used to have zoom binoculars, but these work so much better for clarity and field of vision. We have had a variety of binoculars over the years, and these are the best. Good size, too. You won’t be sorry if you purchase them!
