Is the size at all comparable to a real human brain?

Yes pretty comparable. It is really cute, but not detailed in anatomy especially the brainstem. It is adorable and I bought them for all my pediatric neurology residents. They absolutely LOVED them!!!!!

How big is it? Is it big enough to be a throw pillow?

Not really. It's bigger than the other giant microbes items, but it is too small for a pillow.
