We are very pleased with how this works. Nothing is worse then pulling up a wet rope that has been hanging in the water. Using this helps when I put the anchor in the water it has a stopper on it like a brake. Also when I pull up the rope from the water it makes so I don’t have all kinds of wet rope slapping all around on me. It pulls in nice and easy and neat. I am so glad I bought this for our boat. Buy one you won’t regret it. It is nice and sturdy. The only thing I would suggest is make the wheel a little taller and the groove deeper so the rope doesn’t slip over it when it is diagonal.

It was advertised as having a steel sheave. The sheave is very weak plastic. I bought one of these and then I bought three more. I revive old small fishing boats and I equip them well before I pass them on to new owners; and this is one item I put on every boat, and the new owners always notice. They work, are easy to operate and will hold the anchor when up and hanging off the boat. They do no harm to the rope. I put two on my river boat and I can operate them all by myself from any position in the boat. Sturdy, useful and priced right as far as I am concerned.

I had one of the metal Atwood anchor pulleys on the front of my fishing boat. The rope was constantly jumping over the pulley upon retrieval and getting caught when the anchor was not perfectly in line with the pulley. This pulley has a full shroud over it to prevent that. Metal would be more durable, but this one is fairly sturdy too.

Tiens bien ma chaloupe de 16 pieds avec l’ancre de 20 lbs dans les forts courants du fleuve (4mph). J’ai mis 4 étoiles car la poulie est en plastique et je doute de la durabilité.

Just got it but won't be able to install until spring time. Looks good and solid enough for a 14 foot fishing boat with 10 pound ancor. It's not big so easy to mount on front of small boat.
