Max Lucado has outdone himself!!!
Words fail me when i try to think of how to describe this book. I have enjoyed all of his books, but this one is totally outstanding!!! You will get more out of one chapter than many ministers can preach from the pulpit! (not being disrespectful) He takes each day before Jesus is crucified, and the messages are astounding!! I try to reach no more than 2 chapters at a time to allow them to delve deep into my heart and soul. Mr Lucado also clarifies scripture in a way you may not have understood it in the past. For example, why Jesus became angry with the fig tree and condemned it. That had always made me wonder why Jesus would get angry with a tree, but the message is there through Mr Lucado's writing. I also intend to re-read it the week leading up to Good Friday. Mr Lucado writes his books in simple language, no "theological" wording. Anyone can read this book and understand his points. More importantly, his words will touch your heart and soul and send you to your Bible to read more!!

Love this book, I love CLASSIC Lucado!
I have searched for the older books by Max Lucado, I love the style that he used to write with. I also preferred the old book cover like the one at my library, with a shot of a cloudy sky, but can't find one. There have been a lot of different covers over the years for this book. I'm ordering two more, both in large print, my Dad is 90 and I think he might really like this. The first chapter is set in Texas during the depression, focused on a young man. That would be my dad, with a great work ethic. He will SO relate to that! Dad is Christian but doesn't really think God is as personal as God truly is, so I think he might really like this. I hope so! God willing!

Very good reading
Another interesting journey. Particular the part describing God showing what could happen would He decide to express His loving nature to create the earth and all thats on it. Still He wanted to move forward and before creation already willingly provided for The Solution that would cost Him dearly. That is LOVE we humans can not apprehend or fathom and that love is what makes us whole in the end, that makes me very happy. Love to mean something similar to what Bishop Barron explained: to mean and do well to the other for the benefit of the other. That would qualify the ultimate sacrifice Jesus Christ did as act of pure love!

Max Lucado has an amazing Gift
This book is about the last week of Christ's life on earth before the cross. Max breaks it down into small chapters pertaining to each element that happened that week. This book is VERY engaging. Max Lucado has a true gift for telling a story and pulling Biblical truths into today's understanding. I can read this book repeatedly and still get new insight into scripture. I love looking at the details of scripture so closely.Well done!

Faith Strengthening.
I read this during Lent, not realizing when I started reading that it was a book about the last week of Jesus life. Many of the pages brought me to tears, as I felt the pain that Jesus felt, and as I felt the struggles he faced. This is a book that helped me to see Jesus more as a human, less as a "God", it helped me to think about the sacrifice he gave for me, in the humanest of terms, the pain, the agony, the suffering, the loneliness, I feel that my faith was strengthened tremendously.
