Good Things to Drink with Mr Lyan and Friends

I am very happy to have this book in my collection. In addition to the unique design and beautiful photography, it is full of very unique recipes that benefit from a focus on incorporating local and seasonal ingredients (from one of the world's best bartenders, no less).I give it three stars because it's one of the least approachable cocktail books for amateurs (which is an issue given that the focus is supposed to be on drinks you can make at home with friends). Most of the recipes in the book will require you to make a run to the grocery store to grab something you don't have on hand (if you can find it). This is not necessarily a bad thing (it's awesome to have books that seek to elevate cocktails beyond spirits and citrus). Just be aware that this book is probably better suited for a professional bartender or very serious home mixologist, not someone who is just getting into cocktails as a hobby.

This is an awesome book- I got the chance to hear Ian Griffiths of White Lyan and Dandelyan come speak in Austin about Fords Gin and sustainability in their bars. Mr Lyan was there guest bar tending along side him and it was a pleasure to be apart of this event, put on by such talented people. So needless to say, I was stoked when this book was back in stock! I love the recipes (some simple , some requiring a little more time- all delicious) All the recipes can be easily replicated from the comfort of your home and are perfect for parties and events or just to have something nice to drink at home. I love all the pictures too - a really beautifully put together book.

I am a HUGE Ryan Cheti fan! He's brilliant and I love both of his bars in London (Dandelyan and White Lyan). TOTC's crowned Best International Bartender of the Year 2015. I almost couldn't wait to get my hands on his book and it didn't disappoint; unique recipes and great visual cocktail eye candy throughout.

Interesting, but the inside print is too flat. Muted blacks and whites. The cover is gorgeous.

This book is beautifully written and easy to follow and understand. A must for anyone who likes to entertain in their home!

Excellent cocktail recipe book. My husband and I are super into hosting and making cocktails for our guests. We've had fantastic results with the recipes in this book.

Every home should have a copy.

Oh no, Mr. Lyan, I think you're a genius, but this is not the book that showcases how brilliant you are. I bought this around the same time I also bought the Death & Co and P. D.T books and those really get under the skin of what they create in a way your interviews and features do, but your book does not. I'm so sorry, it pains me to write this (although you're still making money from me, so maybe you should be apologising to me?). Nonetheless, I know from drinking and making your cocktails that you're so much better than this book. The next one though.... That's the one where you'll really blow people's minds!

I have to fess up and admit that the only reason I bought this book was because I spotted a beagle in it while browsing through it. Being a beagle owner and lover it was good enough reason for me! But, it is way more than a book of pretty pictures, though this it is too. The stories and recipes are so inviting, it will have you reaching for you cocktail shaker before you can say deadly nightshade (and who wouldn't want to try a cocktail with a name like that)! If you want to broaden your drink horizons then you need this book.

A beautiful book that is a must for beginners at cocktail making and seasoned drinkers alike. The recipes within are delicious and yet still relatively simple, and the colours and photographs make for a stunning read. There are a large number of recipes containing gin, which makes this an ideal present for a gin lover, but most other spirits are covered too. The book itself makes for a perfect coffee table feature, and visitors to our home love to pick it up and have a flick through. I am a firm believer that price is not something you should factor into a review, but it is worth noting that this is reasonably expensive - worth every penny nonetheless. Very highly recommended.

This is a great book although Lovely pics and history etc. The only issue is that a lot of the items you need are not readily available and I have a pretty well stocked bar!

very good choice of cocktails. My only problem with the book is that it doesn't show you how to make the classic cocktails, rather the writers take on them.
