No more fighting wasp for us.....
We live in an area that gets all four seasons. Every season has a different problem. Spring is insect season here. We have a porch with a cement floor and a over hang of the roof. Because of the shape we end up with three corners on our porch. Our family does not use the front door to go in and out. The porch is only used by guest and delivery people. We have lived here many years and I know where the wasp try to make their nest every year. They love the three corners of the porch. All I had to do is spray some pesticide onto those corners in the early spring and problem was solved. That is until last year. Last year I feel like I fought wasp, hornets, etc for what seemed like months until I gave up. I tried everything. All that did was make my siding look awful once the sprays and poisons dried. This year I was determined to make it permanent and easy for me. I read on a website that farmers use brown paper bags rolled up to look like a fake hive. They tape them to the wall and it stops the wasp. I tried that too and with all the rain and wind we get, it just fell on the floor. I read the reviews and questions for this fake hive and I thought it was worth a try. I ordered it and it came on time and packaged well. it was easy to open and to set up. It is like a paper lantern and folds out. Then the metal extender goes inside and you make sure it fits inside the plastic holes to keep it open and looking like a hive. I did spray it will acrylic sealer as another customer suggested. It took three coats to make it waterproof. We tied it with wire to a cup hook that was already on the porch ceiling. It is just under the eave. We made sure it could swing as another customer suggested. This hive has been on my porch for 6 days now. It is working better than I ever thought it would! I have absolutely no wasp, bees, hornets, etc. Nothing. I have never really had trouble with bees on this porch, I admit. I check this hive several times a day and nothing is flying around. I can't believe how well it works. We have also had severe weather for three of those six days. Inches of rain and up to 35 mph winds. The hive is still fine! Also, the FedEx came to deliver a Amazon package and he must be allergic to wasps. I watched him stare at this hive as soon as he saw it and he put the package down really slow and did not let it make a noise. He stared at the hive for a few seconds and rang my doorbell and left quickly! It does look semi real - especially if you don't know that it is fake. I will make sure to always have this on hand for every spring. Plus I can save my siding from stains now!

Needs to be in line of sight of wasp to work. Does not effect the honey bees.
I was very very very skeptical of this product, but we have a such a wasp problem around our house I was willing to try. This product worked wonders. It has to be in visual site of any potential wasp areas for it to work however. I didn't quite buy enough to cover all sides of our house, so I hung one from a rope that would swing in the breeze to be visible on both sides of a corner around my porch. It worked! They are not the best looking so I would take down before having guest over, but I was able to let my 1 year old play on the porch in the hot Georgia Summer and not be bothered by the aggressive Red wasp and yellow jackets. During the late summer we had several bad storms to come through and blew the "Get Lost Wasps" away. I didn't bother to replace them thinking it was the end of season and maybe we would be in the clear. Boy was I underestimating how badly the wasp wanted to build on the porch, within a few weeks we had three HUGE wasp nest built, one was the size of a basketball with about 50-60 wasps. I am buying several packs again this year to spread around and keep on reserve incase a few get blown away again. As far as the endurance, one blew down and was trapped in the grass under the swingset for a few weeks, in the rain and in dew. When I pulled it out, it only had minor tears in the paper. I was impressed. I hung it back up.The only odd thing that happened and I'm not sure if it is related is that because we werent under attack from red wasp to and from our garage everyday, some really really HUGE hornets moved in. They were red, yellow and black with bodies about 3" to 4" long. I ran for my life for about a week and took the "Get Lost wasp" nest down thinking, these monsters were there to challenge the fake hornets in some sort of Hornet war. But the monster hornets remained and built a nest in the dirt under the cement sidewalk. I went threw 3 cans of hornet spray on these Monsters but only took out about three of them. I did some research and found that these may be what is called a "Cicada Killer." and are nick-named "gentle giants" of the bee world. I heard that they will return although I am keeping my fingers cross they will not. They are really big and scary, although supposedly gentle. I am not sure if the lack of challengers in the area, allowed them to make nest, but I will defiantly take them over the hoards of nasty red wasp and yellow jackets any day. Also our neighbor has some honey bees he fosters, and they still came to the yard for clovers and flowers, so that is good.Great product! Highly reccomend!
