Not heavy duty enough for textbooks
I bought this to help my son get organized for middle school distance-learning. He has 5 hardbound textbooks and 5 notebooks. Each time he pulls one of the hardbound textbooks out, everything tips over and gets knocked down off the table and onto the ground. We even made it a point to use the heaviest books as anchors on the ends to weigh down the bookends, but that doesn’t seem to work. I think we need larger/taller bookends, or perhaps use both bookends on one end and something else to hold the other end. Each time it has tipped over and toppled to the ground (bookend and books), the metal bookend has not lost its shape or gotten deformed so I’ll give it that.

Recommended with a caution or two
I had to post this while the shock was still fresh after hearing an odd, high-pitched swish-like sound while sitting here at my computer. The fright came from the tumbling and multiple crashing sounds after the cookbooks that had been resting between these bookends atop my refrigerator tumbled over and crashed down onto the counter beside it. On the way down they took with them the magnetically-secured organizer holding sale flyers, pens, scissors, and misc small tools on the refrigerator's side far side.I can see into the kitchen from my desk but it happened so quickly that I can't recall if the sight of the books' tumbling over or their sound as they tumbled and crashed brought realization of the cause of that high-pitched swish. It must have been the squeal of the anti-slip pad beneath the end that didn't hold as it slid across the top of the refrigerator under the weight of the books before it finally fell over. The addition of a foot on each outside end would go a long way toward making them tip-proof.Otherwise, these bookends are perfect: their cost was reasonable and their silver-tone color coordinates nicely with the pulls on my kitchen cabinets. I recommend them for sturdier books as long as care is taken with the front-to-back placement of longer or taller books, and esp if they have thin covers which many cookbooks do today.

Great for large books!
Best bookends I've had yet! Bought these to keep my sons large book collection organized & they're very sturdy considering a couple of the books weigh 5lbs! I plan on ordering some for myself to keep my big nursing books in since I've seen how sturdy they are.

Great for my Library
Great size and weight. Many book ends are really bulky or too lightweight to actually hold books without sliding and releasing the books on the floor.

Practical
Great for a dozen books or so. I keep them on my desk and then work great. They don't take up any additional space which is what I had in mind.

Does what it is supposed to do.
Not sure why these are labelled as "premium" - is it because of the finish of the silver/grey metal? Is it because the bases have a nice, non-slip rubberish foot? Not sure. Pretty cheap, but they do what they are supposed to do and at a reasonable price of £8.
