Has anyone used this like a salamander? And cook the steak in it?

Yup. If you like your steak done “Pittsburgh” or “Black and Blue” grab a thick steak and a broiling pan. You’ll get a heavily charred crust and a blood-red interior. We’ve also tried to use it to carmelize the sugar on crème brûlée - use a kitchen torch or a hot iron type salamander and skip the OONI.

Where do you fune a replacement for the pizza stone if it breaks?

My stone split in half after only making 10 pizzas. Ooni said it probably had a flaw so they replaced it under warranty. But you can buy them directly from ooni

Can my 16" x 14.25" x .25 pizza steel be placed inside?

I suggest using the supplied pizza stone as the inside is an irregular shape. To answer your question, yes, it will fit.
