For what you pay this is a GREAT knife.
I bought this knife as research. I wanted to see what differences are between an expensive vs inexpensive yanagi-ba. I have to say that this knife has impressed me. I can't say anything for the steel itself as I have not tested indepth enough to give a proper conclusion, but it seems to be holding up nicely for its intended purpose. One of the things that really impressed me was the grind. It was the CORRECT grind. Hollow one the one side and a flat saber grind on the other. The tip does look like it is slanted off to the hollow side just a bit, but again look at the price, and it is an easy fix. The grind is VERY even, and does not wobble at all! Very very nice. Another thing is the nice thickness at the ricasso the the very very nice distal taper to the tip. This makes the knife wonderfully balanced! The final thing is the handle is WELL done. Nicely shaped. Where the faux horn meets to wood is not a super fine transition, but again easy for me to fix and look at the price. The only other issue I saw was the blade profile does have a small almost imperceptible flat spot on the edge. Very very small. This knife's value for the money is off the charts. If you are looking for an inexpensive sushi/sashimi knife, I would recommend this wholeheartedly. Unfortunately I have to go buy another brands inexpensive yanagi-ba for research. This one is too nice.

Great knife for non professionals, a couple modifications and it's the best for home use
The knives are amazing for the price. If you know your way around a whetstone they will stay brutally sharp. That being said, the handles are the cheap part. I taped up the plastic "hosel" and placed the knives in a vice and used some 320 grit sand paper on the handle and then some protective stain, and the handles feel way better. I reccomed that. Perhaps dipping the whole handle and hosel up to the blade in epoxy could make this a knife that is now way better than its price point.I do recommend for any one who only uses them a couple times a month. They are probably not daily drivers but are effective at getting the job done.

Single beveled edge.
My first impression was nice looking knife I wish it weighed about 6 oz had a double sided edge for use with both hands. The blade thickness is extremely thick and top heavy after a hour of use the wrist is soar. For home use this will work but in my work kitchen not up to par.

High quality thick, heavy knife.
It came in a nice box. It is thick and well made. The quality and design both are pretty good. It’s worth the money you pay.
