This large but excellent quality road case is perfect for any drummer! The larger size does increase the weight once it’s all loaded up of course, but it’s got great handles and casters which help a lot. Plus all your gear including your drum throne can fit in one place! It’s pretty awesome. SKB cases rule and this is no exception!

I had a hard time spending this much money, but this is the best purchase I’ve made for my kit. I gig all summer long and needed a way to carry more things at once. It can hold my snare, kick pedal, stick bag, several stands (if they can be broken down short enough), all my cymbals, and a few miscellaneous things too. There are two cons: it is heavy as fock and I need a second person to get it into my car. Like the case is heavy on its own, but then add all those cymbals and gear… it is really hefty. I am a 5’3” female, so maybe you can handle it on your own, but you will hurt your back. The other is that the cymbal vault doesn’t have a latch. I did have it fall open (with cymbals inside) and it ended up damaging our IEM system because it fell so hard. I ended up installing a latch to be safe. This is only an issue while you’re still loading gear into it, so if you do cymbals last, you’ll put the lid on top and it won’t be an issue. So, it’s not perfect, but it’s just a couple tweaks away. Very glad I bought it and I’d recommend it to any drummer who gigs.

Pro: If you're clever enough you can fit all your hardware, snare and cymbals in here. It is MAGIC. Con: Awkward to fit a 22" cymbal in it and it's "heavy". It's not as good as a full proper trap case that you might see backstage at a stadium, but you can't fit one of those in the back of a van, and you don't have roadies carrying it around for you. As another reviewer mentioned the wheels could be beefed up, but I have not had any trouble with it so far. I haven't beaten it up too much though so your milage may vary. Overall very happy. Update 2023: 5 years in and still happy. I've replaced the wheels with more substantial casters, and as well the screws that hold them in place with stainless steel as salt and water had destroyed the old ones (they're 1/4-20 1/2 inch btw).

Had been looking for a replacement case for sometime as the one I had was showing its age and splitting! Decided on SKB as design looked good with the wheels and I was impressed with the Bass Drum case I recently purchased. Also great that SKB now becoming available in UK via Amazon! So about the case .... This Hardware case is big and appears a very robust construction. This easily holds all my cymbal stands, HH, floor tom stand, snare stand, tom tom mounts, stool and seat, bass drum pedal (in its box!) and my drum mics (also in their case) all the hardware appropriate for a 5 piece kit, and has space to spare! Fits in my Nissan xtrail no problem. Before you buy make sure you check the dimensions... this is a large case so you may want to check it fits in your vehicle ok and check that everything else that you take on a gig will fit round it! I had to rejig how I load up as this case is a bit wider than my previous one. Made it a bit tight having this case and the bass drum side by side.. but worked out ok. The case is quite heavy when full. However I find that even though I now have more items in this case (pedal and mics) it is much easier to manoeuvre because of the wheels. Its a bit like having a sack barrow built in! So easy to steer round corners, relatively easy up and down steps. I find loading into the car the tricky part, best to lean the case on the bumper and then lift and push in... but easier if you can get someone to help for 5 mins! The other advantage is that I don't have so many trips back and forward to the car as more stuff is now in the case! So slightly quicker setting up and breaking down! Good robust and relatively comfortable handles on the sides (no bare metal digging in your hands!). Handles built in to the ends of the lid and also the folding handle for wheeling it around. The wheels are built in to the case and look robust... time will tell as I have to navigate concrete steps on a few of my gigs. The straps and connectors appear strong. Overall a good robust case which seems made for the job with some thought gone into the design. Time will tell on its durability .... I will plan to post back over time ..
