Product is excellent, customer service not so much
Anchor Hocking is a great company, and it's even better that the products are made in Ohio, USA. The quality of the glass products is excellent, and I always look for Anchor Hocking before any other manufacturer. I purchased one of these butter dishes at a local retailer a few years ago, in a former home, and liked it so much that I wanted another for my current home. Not finding this product at a local retailer, and not wanting to drive to Hocking Hills, I was pleased to find the product on Amazon. I ordered a two-pack, so that I could use one and store the other in case I move again. The products arrived in only a couple days, and immediately I knew something was wrong. The clinking sound inside the packing material indicated broken glass. I unwrapped the items slowly and carefully. One butter dish was in perfect condition; the other one was broken, chipped with chards of glass all over inside the packing material.I logged on to Amazon to contact the seller, and encountered a robot instead. After navigating the unhelpful suggestions, the bot asked for some details to send to the seller. I entered the information about the broken product, and the bot assured me it had emailed the seller, asking me to wait two days for a response. So I waited. For a week. Crickets.... no response whatsoever from the seller.Alas, this would have been a five-star review for an excellent product and seamless purchase/delivery experience, but I knocked two stars off for the unacceptable customer service. If, by some alignment of the stars, this review motivates the seller, I will update the review.**UPDATE***After more than a month of waiting, there has been no response from the seller at all.I will now have to drive 100 miles round trip to get this issue resolved.Because of this situation, I took two more stars off the review. As previously stated, Anchor Hocking is a fantastic company with great products. If you value quality items in your home as I do, you'll want to buy elsewhere.DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER.

Set of two adds ease to your life!
These butter dishes, that I bought a 2-pack of, are a very simple, slick design. I thought that this would be perfect, unoffensive and just right for what a butter dish should do: holding butter. And they do just that. The quarter pound sticks fit nicely. The only thing that annoys me is that it can be a little slippery, especially if you get just a little butter on your fingers. A simple ridge or handle would have been a perfect addition to allow me to not feel like I am going to drop this and break it. I do love that it's glass and not plastic and that it's simple and the perfect size for one stick. Love that I have two in case we break one (which was the fate of our previous butter dish), and to have a rotating stock of butter dishes to clean one while we can use the alternate for the butter! Great price point for two dishes, too!

Two means one is always clean and ready to go as the other is emptied.
Perhaps the best aspect of these is that they come two to a pack. When one is empty the other one has been through the dishwasher and is ready to go. Very simple design might be improved by a handle or grip on the lid but otherwise is a nice, hardy, simple butter dish. Heavy glass like the old Anchor Hocking jelly glasses dried beef came in. If, like us, you want to leave your butter out on the counter but have curious kitties, they cannot get this open and if you cover it with a translucent plastic food storage container they forget the butter is even there.

Just what I've been looking for!
Several years ago I bought two small Rubbermaid containers that just fit a cube of butter. They worked well for a long time, but I recently had to accept the fact that the lids no longer sealed and the butter was exposed to odd flavors in the refrigerator. I soften the butter in the microwave briefly each time I use it, and I'm sure that's what eventually killed the seal, even though I always took the lid off first. Anyway, I looked long and hard to find new ones, but there don't seem to be any made that shape anymore. So I was delighted to find these classic glass dishes at Amazon. I have no idea why I looked at plastic for so long! These should last forever.

Simple but could be better
Good item. Simple design. One of two was flawed and packaging was mediocre. The product would be better if the bottom dish had serrations or some slightly nonslip surface like molded nubs to help keep a butter stick from moving. Smooth glass is not a suitable interior base surface.
